MSI Introduces Advanced Multi-Node Servers for Data Centers at OCP EMEA 2025
MSI, recognized for its commitment to high-performance server solutions, has revealed its latest innovations at the 2025 Open Compute Project (OCP) EMEA Summit in Dublin. The spotlight of the summit, running from April 29 to April 30, was on MSI’s ORv3-compliant multi-node servers, which are crafted to meet the increasing demands of modern data-centric applications. These innovative platforms leverage the trusted DC-MHS architecture and are powered by AMD’s EPYC™ 9005 Series processors.
The need for efficient and scalable cloud infrastructure has never been more critical. MSI’s ORv3-compliant servers make substantial advancements in compute density and energy efficiency, paving the way for future data centers. According to Danny Hsu, the General Manager of Enterprise Platform Solutions, MSI is excited to contribute to open-source innovation and sustainability in the tech landscape. "We are focused on fast-tracking our product developments to meet unique client needs while supporting industry-standard designs. Our focus on modularity and scalability sets us apart as a key partner in developing state-of-the-art infrastructure for enterprise-level operations."
The newly revealed Open Compute CD281-S4051-X2 server, a 21" ORv3-compliant, 2OU, 2-node system, is specifically designed for hyperscale deployments. Each node supports a robust configuration with a maximum thermal design power (TDP) of 500W, equipped with twelve DDR5 DIMM slots, and up to twelve PCIe 5.0 NVMe bays. This configuration provides industry-leading memory bandwidth and storage density, allowing for ultra-rapid data processing and management. It also features Extended Volume Air Cooling (EVAC) technology to guarantee energy efficiency while operating under demanding conditions. By incorporating the ORv3 48VDC power architecture, this server ensures optimal performance tailored for the next-generation cloud infrastructure.
Additionally, MSI showcased the Core Compute CD270-S4051-X4, an optimized high-density server featuring a 2U form factor with four nodes. Each node is backed by an AMD EPYC 9005 Series processor, reinforcing its capability for cloud computing. With configurations that also support up to twelve DDR5 DIMM slots and multiple PCIe 5.0 x4 U.2 NVMe bays, this server delivers the essential compute, storage, and memory support needed for contemporary cloud applications. The integrated modular architecture, adherence to the OCP DC-MHS design principles, and efficient cooling technology—including EVAC cooling for nodes up to 400W—further solidify this server’s position as a cornerstone for performance-driven cloud setups.
As an official OCP Solution Provider, MSI continues to innovate through comprehensive engagement with open standard initiatives, resulting in many of its platforms being certified as OCP Inspired. This recognition underlines MSI's commitment to advancing technologies that meet both the present and future needs of the computing industry. The focus on customer-centric product development allows MSI to rapidly deliver tailored solutions that align with the evolving landscape of data center infrastructure. Such strategic innovations are essential as enterprises continue to scale their operations in an increasingly data-driven world.
