Hormel Foods Announces Leadership Change

Hormel Foods Corporation, recognized as a global leader in branded food products, has made a significant leadership transition within its organization. The company's board of directors has appointed John Ghingo as the new President and Chief Executive Officer, effective October 26, 2026. This appointment follows a period of interim leadership by Jeff Ettinger, who has been at the helm since the previous CEO's departure.

Background of John Ghingo

John Ghingo, who joined Hormel Foods as President in July 2025, will take over as CEO at a crucial time in the company’s trajectory. Bringing over 25 years of extensive experience in the consumer packaged goods sector, Ghingo has been instrumental in enhancing Hormel's growth strategy and operational efficiency. His journey with the company began anew in 2024, leading the Retail division, which is the largest segment of Hormel Foods.

Before returning to Hormel, Ghingo honed his skills at Mondelēz International, where he held various key roles related to marketing and general management for renowned global brands such as Oreo and Cadbury. He subsequently served as the president of a plant-based food division at WhiteWave Foods Company and led Applegate Farms, a Hormel subsidiary, prior to his current role.

Throughout his career, Ghingo has demonstrated a commitment to innovation and a track record of delivering results, which positions him as a strong candidate to lead Hormel Foods into its next phase of modernization and growth.

Statement from Hormel's Board Chairman

Bill Newlands, Chairman of the Hormel Foods Board of Directors, expressed confidence in Ghingo's ability to guide the company effectively.
