Jacobs Wins Contract for Boeing's Major St. Louis Expansion Project
In a significant move for the aerospace sector, Jacobs has been awarded a major contract by Boeing for the expansion of its St. Louis facility. This ambitious project, valued in the billions, is poised to transform the operational landscape of Boeing's operations in Missouri, helping bolster national security initiatives.
The planned expansion involves constructing a massive 1.1-million-square-foot facility, which is expected to nearly double Boeing's manufacturing footprint in the region. The new infrastructure will be crucial for the advanced assembly processes and post-assembly operations associated with the next generation of aircraft.
Construction work is already underway and will occur in multiple phases, with completion projected between 2026 and 2030. This multi-phased approach not only allows for the systematic progress of construction but also ensures that critical infrastructure needs are met in a timely manner.
Susannah Kerr, Executive Vice President at Jacobs, highlighted the effective collaboration between Jacobs and Boeing over the past two years. They have successfully navigated complex design and environmental challenges to expedite National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) approvals in just eight months.
“Our collaboration with Boeing reflects our commitment to enhancing national security and defense operations by designing and establishing essential facilities and infrastructure,” Kerr stated. She pointed out that the achievement also involves the necessary demolition of an outdated facility, a process that underscores the comprehensive nature of the project.
Mark Webb, Vice President of Boeing St. Louis Site Readiness, emphasized that St. Louis is witnessing Boeing's largest investments in defense. He remarked, “The new classified facilities will showcase unrivaled advancements in digital design and manufacturing, setting a new benchmark in the industry. Furthermore, we anticipate continued growth in both facilities and workforce over the coming years.”
This project reinforces Jacobs' reputation for delivering pivotal infrastructure and environmental solutions to the Department of Defense and its contractors. The company has established its credentials in the field through various contracts with the U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force, as well as its role in managing construction for significant projects such as the Los Angeles Federal Courthouse and energy solutions for the Library of Congress.
In its commitment to redefining the future, Jacobs operates with an annual revenue of approximately $12 billion. With a workforce of nearly 45,000 dedicated professionals, the company provides comprehensive services spanning advanced manufacturing, urban development, environmental solutions, and much more. Their mission is to create interconnected and sustainable environments, paving the way for innovative solutions in addressing complex global challenges.
As Jacobs embarks on this monumental project with Boeing, the company solidifies its position as a leader in engineering and design services, committed to delivering not only effective results but also solutions that will resonate well into the future.
