Monterey County Bank Strengthens Board with New Appointments of Dennis R. Wood and Amarjit Shokeen

Enhancing Leadership: New Appointments at Monterey County Bank

Monterey County Bank has made significant strides in bolstering its board of directors with the recent appointments of Dennis R. Woods and Amarjit Shokeen. These strategic moves are designed to enhance the bank's operational expertise and governance as it pursues its long-term objectives.

A Veteran in Community Banking: Dennis R. Woods

Dennis R. Woods brings nearly 40 years of experience in community banking to the Monterey County Bank. His illustrious career commenced when he became the founding chairman of United Security Bank (USB) in Fresno, California, in 1987. He not only founded the bank but also took on the roles of President and CEO in 1993, leading USB until its acquisition by Community West Bank in April 2026.

Under Mr. Woods’ stewardship, USB blossomed from a new entity into a financial powerhouse with assets exceeding $1 billion. His profound knowledge encompasses various aspects of banking, including strategic planning, growth, risk management, and community banking. His perspective is anticipated to play a crucial role in evaluating new opportunities and fortifying the bank's market position.

A Diverse Perspective: Amarjit Shokeen

Joining Woods is Amarjit Shokeen, who co-founded Apolis, a technology and professional services firm, and Welcome Group Inc., a hospitality company managing multiple hotels. With an impressive annual revenue of around $125 million from his hospitality ventures, Shokeen has charted a path of success rooted in entrepreneurship.

Mr. Shokeen’s extensive background in technology and real estate, coupled with his hands-on approach to financing and investment, lends valuable insights to the board of directors. His practical experience as an operator and investor will be instrumental in informing the board’s strategies regarding credit assessment and business development.

Currently residing in Pacific Palisades, CA, with his family, Shokeen is not only dedicated to his professional pursuits but also cherishes his role as a father and grandfather.

Commitment to Excellence

Bill Wilson, President and CEO of Monterey County Bank, expressed his enthusiasm about the new appointments, stating, "We are pleased to welcome Dennis and Amarjit to the Boards of PCB and Monterey County Bank. Their complementary backgrounds add significant depth to our governance and strategic capabilities. We believe both directors will make meaningful contributions as we pursue our strategic priorities and continue to focus on generating long-term value for our customers and shareholders."

This development showcases Monterey County Bank's commitment to building a board that embodies a diverse range of expertise and perspectives—attributes essential to navigating the complexities of the banking landscape. As the bank continues to evolve, these appointments are aligned with its mission to enhance its growth trajectories and risk management efforts.
