Sigenergy's Groundbreaking Solutions for Africa's Energy Challenges
On February 14, 2025, Sigenergy, a driving force in energy innovation, hosted a pivotal event in Johannesburg showcasing its advanced energy storage solutions tailored for commercial and industrial usage. This gathering attracted over 350 industry professionals, including distributors and installers from various African nations, fostering insightful dialogues on the critical role of effective energy storage in the region’s future.
Acknowledging Rapid Expansion
During the event, Samuel Zhang, President and CTO of Sigenergy, delivered an inspiring opening address highlighting the company's remarkable trajectory in energy storage technology. He specifically credited Herholdt's Group, South Africa's leading distributor, for its significant support. "In just one year, Sigenergy has achieved unprecedented growth in the inverter market,” he commented. “We have become the most rapidly expanding inverter company, establishing solid relationships across key markets including the UK, Ireland, South Africa, Sweden, Australia, and the United States." Notably, Sigenergy managed to capture nearly 10% of the South African market share, amassing close to 100 MWh in order volume within just seven months. According to a global customer survey conducted in 2024, 90% of homeowners and installers expressed high satisfaction with Sigenergy’s innovative SigenStor system.
Tackling Load-Shedding Head-On
A standout feature of the event was the practical demonstration of the SigenStor energy storage system installed at South Ocean Electric Wire, a manufacturing facility in Alberton. The company had been struggling with frequent load-shedding, which not only hampered productivity but led to considerable financial losses. Previously dependent on expensive and environmentally harmful diesel generators, they switched to using 96 installed SigenStor units, amounting to a total capacity of 4.1 MWh. Following this installation, the factory can now operate continuously, effectively eliminating the disruptions caused by power cuts. This transition also included seamless 0-millisecond switching capabilities from grid to off-grid power, facilitated by Sigenergy's Energy Gateway C1200, which provides 1200 kW of power and offers up to five hours of backup during load-shedding.
Innovations for a Sustainable Future
During the event, Sigenergy also unveiled numerous cutting-edge products, reaffirming its dedication to relentless innovation. One of the highlights, the SigenStack, has emerged as a leading energy storage solution addressing large-scale commercial and utility applications. Its modular architecture allows it to deliver power ranging from 50 kW to 125 kW and supports the integration of up to 100 units simultaneously, ultimately reaching capacities of several hundred megawatts. This design flexibility positions SigenStack as a suitable option for complex energy initiatives.
In addition, attendees were introduced to the Sigen Hybrid 2nd Generation and Sigen Gateway HomePro SP/TP systems, showcasing Sigenergy's commitment to advancing energy solutions. Alongside hardware innovations, Sigenergy remains focused on enhancing its software capabilities, exemplified by the mySigen App. This app provides an unparalleled energy management experience, featuring regular updates every three to four weeks to ensure users benefit from a continuously evolving platform.
The strides made by Sigenergy not only highlight their dedication to resolving the energy challenges faced across Africa but also demonstrate their potential to influence the future of energy storage solutions worldwide. As the demand for effective energy solutions grows, Sigenergy is poised to lead the charge toward a more sustainable and energy-efficient future in the continent.
