A Legacy of Leadership
Major General Woyak boasts a remarkable career in the military, where she held significant leadership roles, including managing one of the largest and most intricate healthcare systems in the Department of Defense (DoD). Her unparalleled expertise spans across both military and civilian sectors, providing her with a unique perspective that she is now bringing to EWA. Over her tenure, she oversaw approximately 400 medical and dental facilities—including more than 260 in the U.S. and at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba—effectively managing multi-billion-dollar budgets and ensuring healthcare delivery for over 10 million beneficiaries.
As a trusted authority, she was called upon by the Pentagon and Congress to implement politically sensitive reforms and to lead crisis response operations. Notably, she played a pivotal role in shaping the nation’s COVID-19 response strategy, demonstrating her ability to navigate through challenging environments.
Transformative Outcomes and Innovations
Major General Woyak has been recognized for spearheading the largest healthcare transformation in DoD history. By implementing private-sector models, she achieved significant cost reductions of 10%, while also enhancing patient access and quality of care. Furthermore, she directed the National Capital Region Medical Directorate, which oversees vital facilities such as Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and provides essential medical support to the White House.
Her keen insights into technology led to groundbreaking digital transformations, including the rollout of the Oracle/Cerner IT platform across multiple healthcare facilities. This initiative resulted in savings of over $100 million and significantly improved financial, pharmacy, and clinical operations.
Vision for the Future
With her proven track record in leading organizational turnarounds, Major General Woyak is now set to contribute to EWA's mission. Her breadth of experience across government and private sector healthcare equips her with exceptional strategic insights, fiscal discipline, and an ability to foster collaborations among various stakeholders.
