BoConcept's New Lounge Chair: Ø by Helena Christensen
BoConcept, the renowned Danish furniture brand, has launched its Fall/Winter 2025 collection, introducing an exciting new lounge chair named "Ø," designed by the brand's global artistic director, Helena Christensen. This chair is not simply a blend of a sofa and a traditional chair; it represents a fresh concept that embodies the comfort of a sofa while maintaining the intimacy of a chair, creating a cozy retreat within one's home.
Inspired by the serene small islands of Denmark, the Ø lounge chair is designed to offer a cocoon-like comfort, making it feel like a personal sanctuary—a true "island in the home." Helena experienced this concept firsthand as she recalls her upbringing on an island. “I have always been fond of the symbol 'Ø'. Living on an island has a magical charm; this lounge chair symbolizes a small island that provides a sense of security and tranquility within your home,” she explains.
Sensory Experience in Design
With its oversized silhouette, the Ø lounge chair combines a sculptural form with soft minimalism, setting itself apart from conventional designs. Crafted from a newly developed fabric called "Lucca," which Helena designed for BoConcept, the lounge chair elevates the sensory experience, providing soothing moments of relaxation through its rich texture.
The Ø chair beckons to a global yearning for tactile experiences. This furniture isn’t just about design; it aims to touch emotions, gently filling the heart and body with warmth and comfort. The inviting materials and embracing shape cater to the increasing desire for a deeper connection with our surroundings.
New Additions to the Flora Collection
Helena's artistic vision extends to this season's Flora collection, unveiling new accessories that further blend art, nature, and beauty. This mini-collection captures her love for vintage styles and bold colors, starting with monochrome poppy photographs and evolving into two stunning sculptures that embody the organic beauty of flowers.
Joining these pieces is a ceramic flower vase and a hand-tufted rug, intricately crafted with thousands of knots. The rug elegantly features "Celestial Yellow," a color that harmonizes beautifully with soft beige and rose tones. Additionally, the adorable "Teddy" cushion series showcases Helena's warmth and comfort, available in four colors with a plush texture that adds softness to any space—collaboratively produced with Copenhagen’s renowned rug manufacturer, Linie Design.
