KPMG Consulting and Shonan Bellmare: Third Annual Beach Clean Event

On June 14, 2025, KPMG Consulting, based in Chiyoda, Tokyo, will collaborate with the J1 professional soccer club Shonan Bellmare to host the third annual beach clean event titled "Green and Blue Co-Creation Beach Clean - Actions We Can Take for the Future of Earth and Oceans." This gathering will take place at the Shonan Bellmare Hiratsuka Beach Park in Hiratsuka, Kanagawa, and is aimed at raising awareness about environmental issues through community participation in litter collection efforts along the beautiful coastline.

Since signing an official club partner contract with Shonan Bellmare in 2020, KPMG Consulting has embraced its role as a “digital innovation partner,” focusing on SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) initiatives. This partnership emphasizes the creation of a regional sports platform that encourages community collaboration and enhances fan engagement through digital technology, all while contributing to the vitality of the local economy and society.

The event’s goal is to unify local residents and organizations in addressing environmental conservation and marine debris awareness. With a focus on co-creation, this project with Shonan Bellmare was conceived to coincide with June's Environment Month, and has successfully been organized annually since 2023. In the past two years, over 200 participants joined the efforts, contributing to the collection of approximately 95 bags of waste, equivalently measured in standard household trash bags.

In its third year, this initiative will partner with the NPO Umisakura, which actively engages in environmental preservation activities centered around Enoshima, Kanagawa Prefecture. This year's event promises not only to feature beach cleaning activities but also engaging projects where participants can craft art using collected marine debris. Such creative endeavors will provide a fun and educational way to learn about SDGs, promoting environmental awareness and stewardship among attendees.

Additionally, this event will collaborate with the “INCLUSIVE HUB SHONAN,” a program aimed at fostering a more inclusive society, inviting students from local special support schools to participate and interact with community members. This collaboration underscores KPMG Consulting's commitment to corporate social responsibility and community engagement.

KPMG Consulting remains dedicated to planning and implementing various social contribution programs as per their “Our Impact Plan.” Their goal is to seamlessly integrate consulting services with the active participation of employees in civic engagement activities.
