GreenLancer Unveils New In-House Solar Interconnection Team to Streamline Installations
GreenLancer Introduces an Innovative Solar Interconnection Team
In a groundbreaking move for the solar industry, GreenLancer has announced the establishment of its new in-house solar interconnection team. This strategic initiative aims to effectively manage applications related to solar interconnections, ensuring that residential solar systems are approved for operation.
This new division serves not only homeowners but also plays a crucial role for solar financiers and contractors who have projects currently stalled due to pending utility approvals. Many residential solar systems across the nation remain inactive simply because they have not received the Permission to Operate (PTO), which is the essential authorization permitting these installations to connect to the electrical grid.
With the help of its interconnection specialists, GreenLancer is poised to take on the responsibility of navigating the intricate process of documenting and filing utility interconnection applications. By streamlining this often convoluted procedure, they seek to remedy instances where solar systems were left unconnected following the closure of installers, often referred to as “orphaned systems.”
Bringing Orphaned Solar Systems Back Online
The primary focus of GreenLancer's newly formed team is to assist in the reactivation of these orphaned solar installations. By forming strategic partnerships with solar financiers and service providers, the team takes comprehensive control of the utility interconnection process. This spans everything from preparing compliant schematics for submission to utilities to coordinating necessary inspections and finalizing commissioning details, which come together to facilitate a re-establishment of grid connection.
To optimize efficiency, GreenLancer has developed an extensive database encompassing utility interconnection requirements across all 50 states. This wealth of insider knowledge on documentation norms and approval timelines equips the team to submit applications that meet utility standards right from the outset. As a result, it not only cuts down on potential delays but also saves homeowners and investors the unnecessary financial burden associated with re-filing applications.
Support for Solar Installers
In addition to focusing on orphaned systems, the new interconnection team extends its expertise to support solar contractors and companies with projects that are close to completion. By leveraging GreenLancer's capacity for interconnection coordination, installers can enhance communication with utility companies and effectively tackle the technical documentation challenges necessary for securing rapid PTO approvals.
This streamlined support enhances the overall project execution process, enabling homeowners to start enjoying the benefits of their solar systems without extended waiting periods.
Long-Term Commitment to Solar Performance
Since its inception in 2013, GreenLancer has successfully supported over 200,000 solar projects across the country, offering a broad spectrum of services ranging from design and engineering to permitting and interconnection coordination. In 2022, they established a dedicated solar repair division to further assist homeowners with systems that had fallen into inactivity.
Patrick McCabe, co-founder and president of GreenLancer, articulated the key motivation behind this service enhancement by saying, "Too many solar energy systems were installed but never fully commissioned. At GreenLancer, we aim to close that final gap between installation and actual operation, allowing homeowners to reap the energy savings that solar can provide."
With the introduction of this specialized team, GreenLancer is positioned to make a significant impact on the renewable energy landscape by helping to ensure that solar systems can be brought online faster and more efficiently than ever before.
