LAAX Unveils New Family-Friendly Snowpark
The Swiss ski resort LAAX, renowned for its freestyle offerings, is set to introduce a new snowpark named 'Whoop De Doo' in time for the upcoming 2024-25 winter season. This innovative park is designed to cater to all experience levels, making it an ideal destination for families and beginners eager to dabble in freestyle skiing and snowboarding.
Features of the 'Whoop De Doo'
The 'Whoop De Doo' snowpark consists of an exciting mix of rolling waves, smooth troughs, and banked curves, making it accessible to beginners while also providing enjoyment for seasoned riders. This addition to LAAX’s winter landscape aims to create a welcoming space where families can bond and beginners can gradually build their skills. The park’s gentle slopes allow for a fun yet safe environment for those looking to test their freestyle abilities.
As part of the changes, the existing Free60 snowpark will shift its focus to freeriding. Although it will retain its boxes and kick rails for thrill-seekers, it won’t undergo regular maintenance as a snowpark. LAAX thus continues to feature five dedicated snowparks, ensuring a diverse array of options for all types of winter sports enthusiasts.
Fresh Dining Options
Alongside the new snowpark, LAAX is revamping its dining offerings. The Freeride Base Nagens will resume operations on December 21, featuring expanded café space tailored to provide hearty vegetarian options. Visitors can expect to indulge in healthy salads, soups, and delightful sweet treats, blending nutrition with convenience for those hitting the slopes.
Furthermore, the Segneshütte will also undergo an exciting transformation. After the 21st of December, guests can enjoy the new service concept that combines self-service with traditional table service amidst a cozy yet modern interior. The updated menu will focus on traditional regional and Swiss cuisine, allowing guests to savor local flavors while relaxing in the picturesque alpine setting.
Revamped Freestyle Academy
In addition to the snowpark and dining enhancements, LAAX's Freestyle Academy is preparing to reopen its doors after extensive renovations. This winter, the academy will feature a trampoline equipped with 360 cameras, a skate bowl that has doubled in size, and an expanded parkour zone complete with a jumping tower and airbag. This facility also includes a new café and a Vans store, ensuring that both children and adults find something entertaining.
For younger adventure-seekers aged 0-8 years, the KIDS Freestyle Academy, which opened last year, offers a safe space to learn and practice essential jumps and tricks, fostering early interest in winter sports.
