Sharjah Airport Offers Free SIM Cards to Enhance Visitor Experience

In an exciting initiative aimed at improving the travel experience, the Sharjah Airport Authority (SAA) has entered into a partnership with e& UAE to provide complimentary visitor SIM cards to tourists as they arrive at Sharjah Airport. This new collaboration is designed to enhance the overall convenience of visitors and strengthen digital services, marking a significant step forward in welcoming travelers to the region.

Upon landing, tourists will be able to connect to the internet immediately with a free SIM card that offers 10 GB of data, valid for 24 hours. This data package allows guests to access essential applications, including navigation maps, taxi bookings, digital payments, messaging, and other necessary online services. This initiative underscores a commitment to improving the customer journey right from the airport, making every visitor's arrival as smooth and enjoyable as possible.

S.E. Ali Salim Al Midfa, President of the Sharjah Airport Authority, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, "We are pleased to work with e& UAE in providing internet services to tourists arriving at Sharjah Airport, ensuring a more comfortable and convenient travel experience. This initiative reflects our commitment to establishing effective partnerships with governmental entities to enhance service quality and add value for visitors. It also emphasizes Sharjah Airport's dedication to creating a welcoming environment that leaves a positive impression and reinforces Sharjah’s status as a preferred destination for tourism and business."

In addition to improving the travel experience, this partnership also highlights the UAE's commitment to leading in digital identity and communication technologies while showcasing the effective collaboration between the public and private sectors to advance national priorities.

Masood M. Sharif Mahmood, CEO of e& UAE, echoed the sentiments of the airport authority, stating, "The free SIM card enables visitors to remain connected right from their arrival. It allows travelers to manage their mobility and communication needs quickly, even before collecting their bags. This enhances their digital experience and enables them to begin exploring the UAE and its unique attractions comfortably."

Remarkably, Sharjah Airport welcomed over 9.1 million passengers in the first half of 2025, representing a 10% increase compared to the same period last year. As the number of arrivals continues to grow, this innovative partnership stands as a significant advancement at the very first point of contact for travelers, reinforcing the UAE's reputation as a forward-thinking hub for tourism.

Through such initiatives, the SAA not only enhances the travel experience but also positions Sharjah Airport as a pioneer in innovative travel solutions, contributing to the overall growth of the tourism sector in the region. This partnership exemplifies the holistic approach needed to cater to the needs of modern travelers, ensuring they are connected and informed from the moment they step foot in the country.

As visitors come to explore the rich culture, diverse experiences, and breathtaking landscapes of Sharjah and the broader UAE, they can do so with the reassurance that their connectivity needs are already taken care of, allowing them to focus on making the most of their visit. The introduction of free SIM cards represents a step forward in the ever-growing emphasis on seamless travel experiences, paving the way for other destinations to potentially implement similar strategies to enhance guest satisfaction.

With this initiative, Sharjah continues to position itself as a leading tourism destination that values the comfort and connectivity of its visitors, all while bolstering its standing on the global stage.
