In an extensive study conducted by Daiwa House Industry Co., Ltd., the results for the "2025 Living Satisfaction Rankings in Mie Prefecture" and the "Most Desired Cities Ranking in Mie" were unveiled. This survey, one of the largest of its kind, measured the satisfaction of residents in various towns and cities throughout Mie Prefecture.
Highlights of the Living Satisfaction Rankings
The top two towns in the satisfaction rankings remained unchanged for three consecutive years:
1. Asahi Town (Mie District) - 1st Place
2. Kawagoe Town (Mie District) - 2nd Place
3. Toin Town (Inabe District) - 3rd Place, holding onto the position for five years running.
Why Asahi Town is Number One
Asahi Town, located in the northern part of Mie Prefecture, continues to appeal to residents due to its convenience. It features major roads such as the old Tōkaidō, National Route 1, and the Mie Asahi IC on the Ise-Wangan Expressway, alongside two train stations on the JR Kansai Line and Kintetsu Nagoya Line. These transportation options ensure that Asahi Town has a high livability rating.
The Trend of Rural Towns
The top three towns are all categorized as smaller municipalities (Towns) in rural areas, showcasing a strong preference for quieter, more community-focused living.
Evaluating Living Satisfaction
The rankings are determined by an average satisfaction score normalized to a scale where the mean is at 50. Rankings can vary slightly even with the same score, depending on decimal points. The survey compiles data over five years from 2021 to 2025, consolidating responses to ensure statistical relevance. If necessary, answers from 2019 and 2020 were also included to meet minimum respondent criteria.

The top cities where residents wish to move continue to draw interest:
1. Nagoya City - 1st Place for four consecutive years
2. Tokyo 23 Wards - 2nd Place for four years
3. Osaka City - 3rd Place, moving up from 4th in the previous year. Other cities like Ise also showed improvement in rankings.
