Cambium Networks Transforms Hospitality Wi-Fi for Enhanced Guest Experience

Cambium Networks is changing the game for hospitality Wi-Fi with the launch of their innovative ONE Network platform. Recently, they've announced significant upgrades to Wi-Fi systems at various hotels, including the DelParco Hotel in Udine, Italy, and the Maples Motor Inn located in Tennessee, alongside enhancements made across a portfolio of Hawaiian resorts with the assistance of systems integrator Pacific DirectConnect.

Upgrading to Modern Connectivity

The upgrades involved replacing outdated equipment with Cambium's state-of-the-art ONE Network, which is cloud-managed and designed to improve connectivity and reduce support calls. For instance, at the DelParco Hotel, the hotel implemented a complete Cambium solution stack comprising several key components:
  • - NSE 3000 next-generation firewall
  • - EX2028P and EX1028P aggregation and access switches
  • - XV2-22H in-room wall plate access points
  • - XV2-21X access points in common areas
All these elements are under the control of the cnMaestro™ X cloud management system, ensuring seamless operation and management.

With the new system, guests can now stream 4K content without interruptions, while hotel staff experience faster application performance. As a notable highlight, the hotel has reported zero unplanned downtimes since switching to the new network.

Morgan Kurk, CEO of Cambium Networks, emphasized that their hospitality solutions empower boutique properties to rival larger brand hotels in terms of connectivity while minimizing the need for extensive on-site IT staff. "With our hospitality solutions, boutique properties can outperform brand-flags on connectivity without an army of IT staff," Kurk stated.

Positive Impact on Guest Experience

The benefits of the upgrade have been significant, with a reported 75% decrease in Wi-Fi support calls at the DelParco Hotel within just a few weeks following the installation. Moreover, the hotel’s online travel agency (OTA) survey scores for 'Internet Quality' skyrocketed into the top quartile among similar accommodations in Italy. This shift signifies a tangible enhancement in guest satisfaction and comfort.

Working alongside Cambium, Quickrelay, another partner, set up 40 XV2-21X Wi-Fi 6 access points to ensure optimal coverage in DelParco's 80 rooms, utilizing fiber-backed EX-series switches. Chad Ellis, founder of Quickrelay, remarked on Cambium’s platform, noting, "We chose Cambium for its feature-rich platform and single-pane cloud management." The results were compelling, with guest Wi-Fi tickets dropping to virtually zero in just about a month post-installation, while OTA scores for 'Internet Quality' improved by 30 points.

Expanding Horizons in Hospitality

In the Hawaiian Islands, the systems integrator Pacific DirectConnect successfully upgraded multiple upscale resorts utilizing Cambium's high-performance Wi-Fi 6 indoor and outdoor access points, cnMatrix™ switches, and cnMaestro™ X cloud management. By strategically reducing the number of outdoor access points from 14 to just six, they achieved a 60% cut in planned hardware while still ensuring robust connectivity across pool decks, conference centers, and beach areas. Hotel managers noted a significant rise in guest-satisfaction scores soon after the network upgrades went live, reinforcing the idea that dependable connectivity is just as crucial to guests as breathtaking ocean views.

As Cambium continues to strengthen its presence in the hospitality sector globally, they have successfully deployed their solutions to over 1,000 hotels across more than 70 countries, ranging from small boutique inns to expansive resorts, all leveraging the same ONE Network framework. This vast footprint highlights Cambium’s reputation as a reliable Wi-Fi solution provider for the hospitality industry.

Future-Ready Solutions

A significant advantage of Cambium's infrastructure is that it is designed to be future-proof. DelParco Hotel's network backbone is multi-gigabit capable, enabling them to integrate Cambium's latest Wi-Fi 7 access points in the future without the need for extensive re-cabling or service interruptions. This flexibility ensures that the hotel can easily keep up with evolving technology and continued advancements in guest connectivity.

In summary, Cambium Networks is setting a new benchmark for Wi-Fi solutions in the hospitality sector. Their commitment to enhancing guest satisfaction through advanced connectivity solutions is evident in the success stories of hotels like DelParco and many others worldwide.
