IISc Foundation and IndusSetu Form Global Partnership for Advancing Healthcare
In a momentous development on November 5, 2025, the Indian Institute of Science Foundation (IISc Foundation) and IndusSetu Global Foundation announced a pioneering Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to foster collaboration in medical education, research, and equitable healthcare. This partnership integrates the mission-driven ethos of both organizations—one dedicated to sustaining India's scientific heritage and the other rooted in the dynamic innovation landscape of Silicon Valley.
The MOU, signed on September 4, 2025, sets forth a framework for collaborative efforts that aim to address some of the most challenging health issues faced across the globe. According to George Brody, President of the IISc Foundation, "This partnership is vital for bridging the gap between scientific advancements and healthcare accessibility. We are excited about the possibilities this collaboration brings not only for India but also for other regions worldwide."
The strategic alliance will span diverse regions, including California, Texas, and Bengaluru, tapping into each locality's unique strengths to pioneer healthcare innovations. By sharing resources, expertise, and talent, the two foundations aim to co-host a variety of global programs—such as conferences, symposiums, and expert panels—focusing on essential facets of affordable healthcare, translational research, and the commercialization of medical technologies.
Priya Tandon, the Founder and CEO of IndusSetu, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, saying, "Working side by side with IISc provides us the perfect opportunity to elevate the quality and reach of medical solutions, particularly for populations that are unable to afford them. This partnership represents the beginning of a crucial connection between innovators and patients globally."
The newly established alliance will also focus on critical health concerns, including women's health, oncology, and clinical training, in tandem with equity-driven research initiatives through the IISc Tata Medical School and Bagchi-Parthasarathy Hospital. Additionally, both organizations have ambitious plans for creating a Founders Circle that will connect donors and partners dedicated to making affordable medical innovations a reality.
Dr. Nandini Tandon, Co-Founder and Board Member of IndusSetu, emphasized the importance of international collaboration, stating, "Tackling urgent global health issues requires partnerships beyond borders. Aligning with the IISc Foundation allows us to utilize top-tier scientific acumen alongside Silicon Valley's innovative spirit to create a lasting impact on women’s health, translational medicine, and equitable healthcare access for all."
This collaboration embodies the aspiration that global partnerships can significantly enhance the practical application of research for the benefit of the world's population, particularly the next seven billion people who stand to gain from improved healthcare solutions.
