SANY's First Autonomous Mining Trucks Leverage Advanced Technology in South America
On August 12, 2026, SANY Group marked a significant milestone in its global operations by delivering its first batch of SKT110Ei pure-electric autonomous mining trucks to South America. This move represents not only the company's commitment to enhancing its presence in international markets but also illustrates a broader trend in the mining industry toward automation and sustainability. The project encompasses an autonomous truck fleet accompanied by an advanced intelligent dispatching system and lifecycle operations and maintenance services.
The mining industry globally is grappling with various challenges, including the complexity of operating conditions, safety concerns during haulage, a shortage of skilled labor, and escalating labor costs. In response to these pressing issues, SANY's integrated autonomous driving solution is designed to boost safety, lower operational costs, and enhance efficiency. Tailored specifically to meet the operational needs of South American customers, this comprehensive solution combines autonomous trucks, roadside infrastructure, and cloud-based dispatching, complemented by localized operations and maintenance services.
The SKT110Ei trucks, characterized by their impressive reliability and low energy consumption, are the centerpiece of this initiative. Equipped with SANY's proprietary autonomous driving system, these vehicles are engineered to reduce operational costs significantly while increasing productivity through minimal manual involvement.
At the recent SANY Group Mining Summit 2026, the company also revealed its groundbreaking cabless pure-electric mining truck, which boasts a state-of-the-art liquid-cooled dual-gun charging system for ultra-fast charging capabilities. This innovative truck is optimized for mine-site operations, offering three distinct operational modes: on-site takeover, remote takeover, and fully autonomous driving. This flexibility allows it to adapt to a variety of operational requirements effectively.
The initiative is led by SANY Intelligent Mining, a subsidiary of SANY International. It specializes in intelligent mining technologies, having successfully developed systems that range from drive-by-wire chassis to multi-sensor perception and AI-based decision-making. As of July 2026, the company had successfully deployed over 300 autonomous mining trucks, collectively traversing more than 13 million kilometers while efficiently transporting over 41 million cubic meters of materials across challenging terrains.
SANY is committed to investing in autonomous mining technology and aims to collaborate with mining partners worldwide to drive improvements in intelligence, safety, efficiency, and sustainability within the mining sector. By introducing this advanced technology into South America, SANY not only enhances productivity for mining operations but also contributes to the industry's transition toward greener and more sustainable practices. This strategic move positions SANY at the forefront of mining innovation, reinforcing its dedication to meeting the evolving needs of the global market.
