LG Electronics Unveils Innovative In-Cabin Solutions for Genesis GV90 SUV
LG Electronics Introduces Advanced In-Cabin Technologies for Genesis GV90
LG Electronics has taken a significant step in automotive innovation by launching an integrated suite of advanced in-cabin solutions for the Genesis GV90, which marks the brand's debut in the full-size flagship SUV segment. This suite comprises six groundbreaking technologies focusing on display, infotainment, connectivity, and entertainment, all designed to enhance the in-car experience for both drivers and passengers.
Elevating the Cockpit Experience
At the core of the GV90's interior is LG's pioneering 24.6-inch variable popup central information display (CID)—a first for any Genesis vehicle. This innovative display not only adapts to various driving scenarios but also transforms into an entertainment hub when the vehicle is stationary. In driving mode, it maintains a sleek profile with a visible screen size of 23.6 inches, seamlessly integrating the audio, video, and navigation (AVN) systems with the instrument cluster for quick readability and effortless control. When the vehicle is parked, the display elevates by 90mm to offer a more extensive viewing area for immersive entertainment experiences.
Complementing the variable popup display is LG's state-of-the-art integrated infotainment system, which operates within Hyundai Motor Group's Pleos Connect platform. This system unifies various interfaces, including the cluster, AVN, and heads-up display (HUD), providing a streamlined user experience tailored to the innovative display feature. The graphical user interface (GUI) enhances usability, making it easier to access in-vehicle functions with an intuitive design.
Expanding Digital Services and Connectivity
The GV90 also incorporates the LG Automotive Content Platform (ACP), which significantly broadens the array of entertainment and digital services available within the vehicle. Passengers can enjoy content from popular streaming platforms such as Netflix, Disney+, and YouTube, in addition to services specifically curated for children. Upcoming additions to LG ACP will introduce Zoom, Rakuten TV, and HappyKids, enhancing the selection this platform offers, although availability will vary by region.
Enhancing the Rear-Seat Experience
Passengers in the rear seats are not overlooked, as LG's cutting-edge technology extends to the back of the GV90 too. Featuring the second-generation connected car Rear Cockpit (ccRC) system, this entertainment solution incorporates a 13.2-inch touch-sensitive OLED panel, providing high-definition visuals for a cinematic experience. Integrated with LG ACP, ccRC ensures a variety of content options and services, effectively turning the back of the GV90 into a personal theater.
Moreover, the eight-inch console touchscreen (CTS) serves as an intuitive control interface for essential vehicle functions such as heating and air conditioning, seating adjustments, and lighting. It employs haptic feedback for enhanced interaction and supports over-the-air (OTA) updates, ensuring that the system remains current and secure.
Ensuring Safety and Connectivity
Driving these innovative experiences is LG's central communication unit (CCU) 2.0, which facilitates smooth communication between the GV90's electronic control units (ECUs) and outside networks. This unit not only supports essential vehicle services like remote control and OTA updates but also boasts TÜV Rheinland certification, having met stringent ASIL-D standards under the ISO 26262 international safety requirements for automotive systems.
As a whole, LG's integration of advanced technologies within the GV90 outlines the company's commitment to shaping the future of mobility. The collaboration between LG Electronics and Genesis signifies a blend of cutting-edge technology, premium in-car entertainment, and enhanced driver support.
Eun Seok-hyun, president of the LG Vehicle Solution Company, stated, "By combining our expertise across multiple technologies, we are creating more seamless and intuitive experiences for both drivers and passengers. We will continue advancing our in-cabin solutions to redefine in-vehicle environments for the future."
This forward-thinking approach not only highlights LG's increasing presence in the automotive industry but also sets a new benchmark for luxury vehicles looking to deliver exceptional passenger experiences.
