CGN's Open Day Expands Globally with a Focus on Sustainable Energy Practices
On May 21, 2026, China General Nuclear Power Corporation (CGN) celebrated the United Nations' World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development with an international Open Day. This significant event took place simultaneously in five countries: France, Namibia, Malaysia, Laos, and Brazil. A total of over 300 students and media representatives were invited to explore CGN’s projects, emphasizing the role of green energy in modern development.
In France, around 100 students and teachers from Paul Langevin Middle School participated in a visit to the Viapres Wind Farm, located in the Grand Est region. Engineers from CGN Europe Energy provided insights into the functioning of wind energy production, AI-based equipment maintenance, and biodiversity protection. Samuel Pierson, a science teacher, remarked, “AI can provide knowledge, but it cannot replace the experience of seeing the blades turn and touching the equipment.” This educational visit was designed as a tangible ecological lesson for Generation Z.
Meanwhile, in Namibia, journalists from 11 major local media outlets toured the Husab Uranium Mine, the largest industrial investment project by China in Africa and the world's third-largest uranium mine.
