Ashby Expands Its Recruitment Platform with New People Workflows for Employee Onboarding

Ashby Enhances Its Service with People Workflows

In a significant move to streamline employee onboarding, Ashby, the comprehensive recruiting platform, has unveiled its latest feature—People Workflows. This expansion marks a shift beyond the traditional applicant tracking system (ATS) capabilities, catering to the complexities of onboarding processes.

The announcement took place at the annual Ashby One conference on May 7, 2026, where Ashby’s CEO, Benjamin Encz, highlighted the need for a unified system that not only facilitates hiring but also ensures a smooth transition for new employees starting from their first day.

Bridging the Gap in Onboarding

According to Melissa Bierly, Senior Product Manager at Ashby, the disparity between structured hiring processes and often chaotic onboarding experiences is a common challenge faced by many companies. Traditional onboarding practices involve excessive manual work, frequent handoffs, and limited visibility, making it tough to track progress effectively.

People Workflows aims to address these challenges by enabling teams to design and implement automated, multi-step onboarding processes that commence as soon as an employment offer is accepted. The features provided in this newly launched product include:

  • - Automated Workflow Triggers: Initiate onboarding tasks automatically upon offer acceptance.
  • - Coordination Across Teams: Seamlessly align tasks, communications, and responsibilities among HR, IT, and hiring managers.
  • - Structured Data Utilization: Leverage organized data throughout the onboarding journey.
  • - Real-Time Progress Tracking: Monitor progress and identify any obstacles faced by new hires promptly.
  • - Dedicated Welcome Portals: Offer personalized welcome portals for each new employee, detailing their initial tasks and activities.

Enhancing Efficiency and Clarity

The need for less manual coordination is accentuated by Jacob Miller, who leads product marketing at Ashby. He stated, “Instead of pursuing tasks and sending repetitive reminders, our teams can dedicate their energy to truly assisting new hires.” The automation of workflows reduces the friction associated with onboarding, allowing HR teams to focus on nurturing new talent effectively, rather than getting bogged down with administrative tasks.

Flock, an early adopter of People Workflows, illustrated the stark difference this product has made. Laura Barnes, Vice President of Talent at Flock, shared that prior to implementing the new system, their onboarding involved countless manual emails and spreadsheet management, consuming significant hours weekly.
