Center for Food Action Celebrates 50 Years of Community Support with its 5th Annual 5K Run/Walk
On May 9, 2026, the Center for Food Action (CFA) is set to host its 5th Annual 5K Run/Walk at Overpeck County Park in Ridgefield Park, New Jersey. This year carries even more significance as it coincides with the organization’s golden anniversary, marking five decades of relentless efforts in combating hunger and homelessness in Bergen and Passaic counties.
The event is scheduled to run from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and welcomes participants from all walks of life, whether they're competitive runners, casual joggers, or walkers. The 5K course is USATF certified and timed, ensuring a professional experience for every participant. Additionally, the race will be headlined by the renowned Honorary Race Ambassador, Regina "The Queen" Fleming, a globally recognized endurance athlete and Guinness World Record holder, who has recently completed marathons on all five continents, including her recent race in Antarctica.
Nicole Davis, the director of CFA, emphasized the deeper purpose behind this event, stating, "This race is about so much more than a finish line. Every registration is a direct investment in a neighbor who needs help. As we mark 50 years of service, we are grateful for every participant, as their support genuinely changes lives." This statement captures the essence of the event, underscoring that every step taken contributes more than just towards personal fitness; it plays a significant role in supporting those facing hunger and homelessness.
Registration for the event is currently open, with entry fees set at $40 for adults and $20 for children aged 6 to 12. Each registrant will receive a commemorative T-shirt, and all proceeds from the race will directly support CFA's mission of providing emergency food assistance and homelessness prevention services to the local community.
