ArtPrize 2025: A Celebration of Creativity and Community
This fall, Grand Rapids, Michigan, welcomes back ArtPrize, a renowned international art competition that transforms the city into a vibrant exhibition space. Taking place from September 18 to October 4, 2025, this year's event features over 1,100 artists competing with their artwork, complemented by three special exhibitions that highlight creativity, cultural narratives, and social engagement.
Special Exhibitions:
1. Arborialis
One of the standout attractions this year is Arborialis, an inflatable luminarium designed by the innovative UK-based collective Architects of Air. This stunning installation captures the essence of an ethereal experience, merging captivating colors and flowing architecture with ambient sounds, offering visitors a serene sanctuary that explores the profound bond between humanity and nature. The experience is designed to promote sustainability and creativity, making it an enriching and restorative retreat for all who enter.
2. Art of the Olympians
Another key exhibition features the works of celebrated Olympian and artist Roald Bradstock, affectionately dubbed the "Olympic Picasso." His show is highlighted by the stunning piece titled "LA Rising - Together," a monumental charcoal artwork comprising 2,028 interlinked rings, each symbolizing resilience in the face of adversity and honoring the upcoming 2028 Summer Olympic Games in Los Angeles. Visitors will actively engage with this piece by coloring in the rings, embracing the interactive and inclusive ethos of his art genre based on Olympism. Additionally, attendees can witness a collaborative endeavor called "Together," created alongside high school students and celebrating a century of winter sports.
3. Red Jeans Redemption
Presented by Healing in Arts, Red Jeans Redemption is a poignant installation that aims to amplify the voices of survivors of sexual trauma. This powerful exhibit showcases pairs of red jeans adorned with handwritten narratives from survivors, inviting the public to pause, read, and reflect on their stories. It serves as a medium for empathy, resilience, and transformation, promoting a cultural shift through direct engagement and dialogue around sensitive yet crucial societal issues.
The Spirit of ArtPrize 2025

Apart from the special exhibitions, the main competition invites art enthusiasts to explore numerous venues across the city, cast their votes for their favorite exhibitions, and participate in a wide array of events throughout the event.
