Unbeatable Eel and Egg Tempura Rice Bowl: A New Delight at Jigemonton
Starting March 2 and running until May 31,
Jigemonton, a sister brand of the popular
GOSSO group’s Nagasaki cuisine restaurant, will introduce their fourth iteration of the 'Unbeatable Tempura Rice Bowl' series. This new offering, the 'Unbeatable Eel and Egg Tempura Rice Bowl,' promises a delightful gastronomic experience that combines local ingredients and unique culinary elements.
A Taste of Nagasaki
Jigemonton takes pride in showcasing the rich culinary heritage of Nagasaki. Its menu is crafted to highlight locally sourced ingredients and seasonal flavors, staying true to the philosophy of “chisan-chisho,” which emphasizes consuming local produce. Since its inception in 2014,
Jigemonton has expanded its presence across Tokyo, with four locations now serving its community.
This restaurant aims not only to offer delicious food but also to foster a deeper appreciation for Nagasaki's culture and cuisine, making it accessible to the nationwide audience as well as international visitors.
A Dazzling New Dish
The 'Unbeatable Eel and Egg Tempura Rice Bowl' is designed to be visually striking with its generous portions that literally overflow from the bowl. Each serving features a foundation of rice coated with savory sauce, topped with a luscious spread of fluffy egg, complemented by the stars of the dish: crispy eel tempura in the front and an exquisite grilled eel placed prominently at the back. Each bite promises a delightful mix of textures and flavors while pairing perfectly with a soft-boiled egg tempura that enhances the dish further.
Customers can enjoy the rice bowl in different ways. Firstly, relish the 'Eel and Egg Tempura Rice Bowl' as is. Next, add some fine seaweed and wasabi for an exciting taste twist. Lastly, pour the accompanying dashi broth to experience a comforting and unique style similar to
hitsumabushi, making it an enjoyable dish from start to finish.
For those looking for a complete meal, the restaurant also offers several set options, including an ochazuke (rice with tea) set, a Sanuki udon set, and a Shinshu soba set to complement the rice bowl.
Coming Together for Spring
The 'Unbeatable Eel and Egg Tempura Rice Bowl' is priced at 2,480 yen (tax included) for the bowl alone. For an ochazuke set, it is 2,680 yen, including additional sides such as miso soup, a small salad, and pickles. If you prefer noodles, both the udon and soba sets are available for 2,980 yen, allowing guests to enjoy different noodle textures with their rice dish.
Jigemonton positions this dish as a perfect spring indulgence, encouraging guests to savor their innovative twist on traditional Japanese favorites.
