Floadia Launches Advanced G1 Embedded Flash IP for Automotive
Floadia, a Japan-based company specializing in embedded flash IP development, has announced the launch of its latest embedded flash memory solution, the G1 eFlash IP. This innovative technology is implemented on the TSMC 180BCD Gen3 process platform and aims to meet the demanding reliability and performance requirements of next-generation automotive applications.
Key Features of G1 eFlash IP
The G1 eFlash IP integrates a 256KB program flash macro and a 1KB data flash macro based on SONOS (Silicon-Oxide-Nitride-Oxide-Silicon) technology. This configuration offers automotive integrated circuits (ICs) a high-reliability, low-cost non-volatile memory solution. Notably, the eFlash process is seamlessly added to the existing TSMC 180BCD Gen3 platform without altering the original Process Design Kit (PDK). As a result, clients can easily integrate this embedded flash design with minimal disruption, utilizing the certified PDK they are accustomed to.
Achieving AEC-Q100 Grade 1 full certification, the G1 eFlash IP demonstrates robust performance under harsh automotive operating conditions and is ready for mass production.
Composition of G1 eFlash IP
The composition of the eFlash IP includes:
- - 256KB Program Flash (PFlash): Designed for code storage, offering optimized speed and performance.
- - 1KB Data Flash (DFlash): Features a durability of 100,000 program/erase cycles, providing the functionality equivalent to EEPROM for data storage.
Both PFlash and DFlash have been optimized for fast operation, achieving a maximum erase time of under 20ms. This speed significantly enhances system performance in automotive applications and reduces firmware update times.
Simplified System Integration
To facilitate system integration, the G1 eFlash IP is equipped with a built-in charge pump, eliminating the need for external high-voltage circuits. Moreover, both PFlash and DFlash support an 8-bit parity for ECC (Error Correction Code) interfaces, ensuring high data integrity and reliability throughout the device's lifetime.
Floadia’s G1 eFlash IP, built on proven SONOS architecture and featuring rapid erase performance, is suitable for a wide range of automotive applications, including power management ICs, motor drivers, and body electronics.
