Establishing a system for the transportation of seafood from remote regions and islands is crucial for supporting Japan's fishing industry and local economies. This project aims to create a sustainable distribution network that connects producers with consumers in distant areas and abroad, all while ensuring that the price levels reflect the quality of the products. The experimental transport of fish caught by the Kunigami Fisheries Cooperative will begin in December 2025, focusing on verifying quality, safety, and appropriate pricing for the fish being shipped.

In adherence to the "High-Quality Fresh Fish Manual" developed by the fisheries cooperative, fishers and cooperative staff work collaboratively to maintain freshness, ensuring that fish are handled properly right after being caught. 2. Use of Advanced Ice Technology


The project utilizes a unique type of icy snow-like substance that measures just 0.05mm in diameter. This innovation prevents damage to the fish while allowing for rapid and uniform cooling. Unlike traditional ice, this technique mitigates freshness degradation during transport, ensuring that the fish reaches consumers in optimal condition.

3. Innovative Packaging and Speedy Logistics
