Hafslund Celsio stands as Norway's largest district heating provider and the owner of the nation's most extensive waste-to-energy plant. This carbon capture initiative is a key component of Longship, a groundbreaking project backed by the Norwegian government, dedicated to developing a full carbon capture and storage value chain.

Details of the Contract Award


The awarded contract encompasses the delivery of an integrated carbon capture plant, a liquefaction system, temporary storage, and a loading facility that will be installed at the waste incineration site. Furthermore, the scope extends to a temporary CO2 storage unit and a ship loading system at the Oslo harbor, designed to transport captured CO2 to the Northern Lights permanent storage facility situated on the Norwegian continental shelf.

Upon completion, expected by the third quarter of 2029, the carbon capture plant is projected to capture approximately 350,000 metric tons of CO2 annually. This project represents a substantial step towards reducing greenhouse gas emissions and promoting sustainable energy practices in the region.
