Launching National Shogun Journey Project to Support Small Business Owners in Japan

Launching the National Shogun Journey Project

The Anshin Management Support Association, based in Nakano, Tokyo, is set to kick off its groundbreaking initiative, the National Shogun Journey Project, on July 20, 2026. This project aims to support small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) owners across Japan in developing effective management plans. The association comprises accounting professionals, including tax accountants and certified public accountants, dedicated to promoting 'Future Accounting' for businesses to realize their envisioned futures.

What is the 'Shogun Day'?

At the core of this initiative is 'Shogun Day,' a management planning seminar that allows busy entrepreneurs to step away from their daily operations. In a serene environment, they can strategize on their company’s long-term sustainability by visualizing their goals five years ahead. This metaphorical analogy likens entrepreneurs tackling business challenges to Samurai generals who determine strategies from a vantage point away from the battlefield, hence the name 'Shogun Day.' Annually, over 3,000 firms participate in more than 70 locations throughout Japan.

Overview of the National Shogun Journey Project

This project is a collaboration with member accounting firms nationwide, to facilitate 'Shogun Day' seminars in local areas. It provides SME owners with essential insights into their current business situations and encourages taking the first steps toward their future. Selected local representative offices will be rigorously covered by Anshin’s staff on-site, ensuring that the event is well-documented and disseminated through official media across the country.

Call for Local Representative Offices

The association is currently seeking local offices to represent each prefecture for this project. Key application details include:
  • - Deadline: June 22, 2026
  • - Main Requirements:
1. Membership in the Anshin Management Support Association.
2. Hosting 'Shogun Day' at your office (or jointly with another).
3. Utilizing the MAP Management Simulation software.
4. Have the event conducted by July 2027 (first-time hosts will receive support from the secretariat).
  • - Selection Criteria: One office per prefecture, on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • - Participation Benefits: Promotion on official social media, a limited edition ‘Mini Nobori’ design, and reusable promotional materials.

Three Key Benefits for Selected Offices

Local offices chosen for the project will gain extensive publicity support from the Anshin Management Support Association to amplify their presence nationwide, which includes:
1. Creation of Office Introduction Interview Content: Anshin staff will spend an entire day at the seminar to conduct thorough interviews, capturing the essence and sentiments of entrepreneurs, resulting in compelling content that reflects the office’s mission.
2. Professional Documentation of the Event: Photographs of participants engaging with their staff will be taken, showcasing the energy and trustworthiness of the office. These objective images serve as powerful marketing assets.
3. Provision of All Materials: Offices will receive all written content and visual materials produced during the event. These will be available for reuse, enabling the offices to leverage them for their websites, social media, recruitment campaigns, and general publicity.

Case Study: Hatake Management Group's 'Shogun Day in Noto'

In April 2026, the Hatake Management Group in Ishikawa Prefecture hosted 'Shogun Day in Noto,' which Anshin covered. The emotional feedback from a previously hesitant entrepreneur, who affirmed their approach was validated through the support of the accounting firm, illustrated the event's value. The local newspaper, which holds a leading share in Ishikawa, also highlighted the event, reinforcing the accounting firm’s significance in the community.

Current Status: 19 Local Representative Offices Confirmed

As of now, 19 local representative offices have been established, with ongoing recruitment in other prefectures. We invite applications from member accounting firms that share the same vision of conducting 'Shogun Day' events in all 47 prefectures.
