A Magical Evening: Disney's Once Upon A Wish Party
In a heartwarming celebration, Walt Disney World recently hosted the Once Upon A Wish Party, an enchanting event dedicated to families connected with Make-A-Wish. This magical gathering created a fairytale atmosphere for nearly 50 deserving children facing critical illnesses, bringing their dreams to life amid the vibrant and whimsical backdrop of Disney attractions.
The event, which unfolded over the course of two joyous days, was a carefully crafted experience brimming with opportunities for children to live out their unique princess wishes. From singing Disney classics to indulging in royal makeovers, each wish child's dream was personalized, ensuring they felt like true royalty.
Among the fortunate attendees was 4-year-old Cora from Arizona, who courageously battles leukemia and dreamed of singing "Let It Go" alongside the beloved Frozen characters, Anna and Elsa. Another superstar of the evening was 6-year-old Bailey from California, who had her heart set on donning a stunning Rapunzel costume, while 7-year-old Debora from Massachusetts envisioned a picturesque Disney Princess makeover to complement her lively spirit.
"As the largest wish-granter for Make-A-Wish, Disney grants a wish every hour of every day," remarked Josh D'Amaro, Chairman of Disney Experiences. “It’s a special privilege to help families create joyful memories when they need it most. Disney is all about optimism and happiness, and these events encapsulate that vision."
Throughout the celebration, wish kids were transformed into princesses inspired by their own journeys, adorned in exquisite gowns and custom-crafted crowns. The festivities were filled with over 55 interactive character greetings, featuring favorites from films like _Frozen_ and _Moana_.
Patrick Tenney, the father of one of the wish kids, expressed the importance of such experiences: "This means everything. With the opportunity that Make-A-Wish and Disney provide, it allows us to unwind and truly enjoy our time together. It’s a joyous occasion for all the kids, especially our daughters."
As the final night of festivities approached, the wish kids received spectacular makeovers, preparing them for the highlight of the evening: The Royal Ball. There, they gathered to meet almost every Disney Princess, enjoying captivating entertainment inspired by classic Disney stories. As midnight approached, these brave children were officially crowned Disney royalty, etching a beautiful memory into the hearts of their families forever.
Leslie Motter, the President and CEO of Make-A-Wish America, emphasized the collaboration’s impact: "I’m continually inspired by Disney’s capacity to innovate and create transformative experiences for wish kids. The meticulous attention to detail and customization that went into the Once Upon A Wish Party speaks volumes about the dedication of Disney WishMakers, resulting in unforgettable moments that instill hope and joy in all participants."
The bond between Disney and Make-A-Wish spans an incredible 45 years, showcasing a staggering total of over 165,000 Disney wishes granted. Events like the Once Upon A Wish Party are integral to the healing journey, offering families a respite from their daily struggles and a chance to forge lasting memories.

On the Disney Cruise Line, three kids enjoyed enchanting adventures aboard the Disney Wish. Meanwhile, Disneyland Resort welcomed 6-year-old Justice for a magical day filled with activities, from royal meet-and-greets to delightful breakfasts fit for a princess.
For World Wish Day, three aspiring bakers had the honor of mastering their cooking skills with Chef Donald Duck at Shanghai Disney Resort, culminating in the preparation of a regal cake and heartfelt meetings with their favorite princesses. In addition, 75 Make-A-Wish families from Europe were invited to Disneyland Paris for a weekend of personalized wishes, highlighted by musical experiences with UK singer Sam Ryder during the new Disney Music Festival.
More wish kids gathered at Aulani from May 4-9 for an action-packed week that promised Hawaiian-themed adventures alongside beloved characters. Tokyo Disney Resort also celebrated by granting the first-ever Rapunzel wish to 8-year-old Mei, who met her heroine in person.
