Arclin's Multi-Million Dollar Investment to Boost Nomex® Production Capacity in Spain

Arclin's Strategic Expansion of Nomex® Production Capacity

Arclin, a leading name in materials sciences, has recently unveiled plans for a multi-million dollar investment aimed at enhancing the production capacity of its Nomex® products at its facility located in Asturias, Spain. This move is crucial not only for meeting the increasing global demand for Nomex® paper but also for reinforcing the resilience of the supply chain in various critical sectors including aerospace, electrical infrastructure, electric vehicles, and defense.

The expansion is part of Arclin's long-term strategy to invest in the Nomex® business, which it acquired in April 2026. CEO Bradley Bolduc stated, "When we acquired the Nomex® business, we committed to investing in its future. Expanding our production in Asturias will strengthen our global manufacturing network and help us continue supporting our customers as demand rises across aerospace, electric infrastructure, defense, and transportation industries."

The Asturias plant has been a cornerstone of the global Nomex® production network since 1993. With the planned investment, the facility aims to transform into one of the four production sites globally, exclusively dedicated to creating Nomex® paper. Construction is expected to be completed by the end of 2027, with full operations anticipated to commence in early 2028.

Mark Glaspey, President of Arclin, emphasized the significance of Nomex® paper, stating that it is relied upon for some of the most demanding applications worldwide, from aircraft to electric vehicles and power generation systems. He noted, "For decades, Nomex® has been the benchmark for performance in mission-critical applications. Building on this legacy, we are advancing technology, developing new specifications, and collaborating closely with our customers to meet the evolving performance requirements and enable new applications. This investment reflects confidence in the future of these markets and the vital role Nomex® paper plays within them."

Overall, the expansion signifies Arclin’s commitment to reinforcing its production capabilities while meeting the growing needs of its extensive customer base. The investment is expected to not only improve production efficiency but also contribute to sustainable practices within the industry, as Arclin continuously seeks to innovate and enhance its product offerings.
