Exciting News: ActiMethod Opens in Oizumigakuen!
In May 2026, a new branch of ActiMethod will open in Oizumigakuen! This educational center, developed by i GO, utilizes a unique English learning approach that combines typing skills with language acquisition, making it an innovative choice for young learners.
About ActiMethod
The ActiMethod program has quickly gained popularity across Japan, with over 100 schools established by December 2025. As the demand for effective English education rises, more locations are set to open across the country. ActiMethod has revolutionized English language learning through its efficient methodology, enabling students to master vocabulary at a remarkable speed.
The Importance of English Education in Japan
As we know, English has been a formal subject in Japanese elementary schools for over three years now, and its significance continues to grow. With the curriculum shift initiated in 2020, students in grades 5 and 6 are required to take a minimum of 70 hours of English instruction annually. This curriculum emphasizes a balanced development of the four essential language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Furthermore, foreign language activities have now commenced in the third and fourth grades, providing students with an earlier start in their English education.
As middle school now incorporates around 1,600-1,800 vocabulary words (up from 1,200), there is a clear trend towards a more comprehensive grasp of the language. All-English instruction is increasingly aimed for in these grade levels, reflecting a paradigm shift in pedagogical approaches. Moreover, in 2024, university entrance exams will align with the new guidelines, underscoring the urgency for children to acquire these skills early on.
Why Choose ActiMethod?
ActiMethod's typing approach allows students to input substantial amounts of vocabulary in a short period. Traditional writing exercises are replaced entirely with typing, which helps learners build their spelling and vocabulary skills much faster—up to 10 times quicker than conventional methods. As students become adept at typing, their confidence grows alongside their comprehension skills, making learning not just effective, but enjoyable too.
