Expansion of Seniors Helping Seniors® in Dubuque, Iowa
Seniors Helping Seniors® in-home care services is excited to announce the opening of a new location in Dubuque, Iowa. This expansion marks another step in the brand’s rapid growth across the United States, with over 200 franchise partners and 400 territories available nationwide. The Dubuque location will not only serve the local area but will also reach neighboring communities such as Maquoketa, Clinton, Dyersville, Guttenberg, Manchester, and parts of southwest Wisconsin including Lancaster, Platteville, and Fennimore.
The driving force behind this expansion is local resident Cody Strub, who has transitioned from a corporate career seeking a more impactful purpose. His personal encounters with family caregiving inspired him to provide support to other families facing similar challenges. Strub's journey began when his family encountered significant health issues; his mother experienced a seizure and required time to recover, while his father struggles with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). Strub found that navigating the healthcare system and finding appropriate care solutions for his parents was daunting, especially given their desire for comfort and familiarity in their own home, rather than clinical assisted living options.
Reflecting on his family's journey, Strub acknowledged that taking on the role of caregiver altered the dynamics of his relationship with his parents. The responsibilities associated with caregiving, particularly in moments of crisis, revealed to him the emotional toll it can take on both caregivers and care recipients. This realization led Strub to make a significant life change: leaving his corporate job to open a new Seniors Helping Seniors® franchise.
“My mission is to provide a sense of comfort and trust for families facing these transitions,” Strub stated. “I want to empower seniors to remain in the homes they cherish, while receiving the care and support they truly deserve.”
The demand for in-home caregiving is rapidly increasing. According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, nearly 70% of retirees will require long-term care at some point. This growing need is what drives the innovative model of Seniors Helping Seniors®, which prioritizes the pairing of caregivers and seniors based on shared interests and experiences. Strub's new location is committed to fostering connections between caregivers and care receivers, enhancing the overall caregiving experience.
One distinguishing feature of the Seniors Helping Seniors® service model is their commitment to hiring senior caregivers. This not only creates job opportunities for more experienced individuals but also allows for a deeper connection between caregivers and their clients, as they often share life experiences and mutual understanding.
Namrata Yocom-Jan, President of Seniors Helping Seniors®, emphasized the brand's vision: “Our focus is on delivering the highest quality of care for our seniors. We achieve this by collaborating with passionate and dedicated franchise partners like Cody, who are eager to make a positive impact in their communities.”
The origins of Seniors Helping Seniors® trace back to the caring hearts of founders Kiran and Philip Yocom. Since the company was launched in 1998 and opened its franchising in 2006, it has dedicated itself to creating meaningful experiences for both caregivers and care receivers. Kiran Yocom's humanitarian background, working alongside figures such as Mother Teresa, shaped the organization's core values of respect and compassionate care.
Today, Seniors Helping Seniors® operates in 38 states and continues to evolve its services to meet the changing needs of seniors and their families. Strub's location in Dubuque is poised to enhance the quality of life for seniors, and provide them with opportunities to receive care from those with whom they can genuinely connect and feel comfortable. By bridging the gap between family caregiving and professional support, Seniors Helping Seniors® aims to redefine the standards for in-home care across the nation.
