Ajinomoto AGF's Forest Conservation Achievements
Ajinomoto AGF, headed by President Kenji Shimamoto, proudly announced its recognition at the Gunma Prefectural Environmental Awards, where its initiative, "AGF® Blendy® Forest," received the esteemed Environmental Contribution Award. The celebration took place on November 12, marking an important milestone for the company’s commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship.
Since 1999, Gunma Prefecture has established the Environmental Award to enhance public awareness regarding environmental issues. This award honors individuals and organizations that have excelled in environmental practices, research, and natural conservation initiatives. Ajinomoto AGF's continuous efforts in promoting forest conservation initiatives, specifically the "AGF® Blendy® Forest" in Gunma, played a significant role in earning this award.
The "AGF® Blendy® Forest" initiative began in September 2014, following the company’s philosophy that businesses utilizing water have a responsibility towards conservation. Initially started in Suzuka, this effort has expanded to include Gunma since May 2015. Ajinomoto AGF is deeply committed to fostering rich natural environments and clean water sources, recognizing the importance of these resources for future generations.
Forest Conservation Initiatives
The specifics of the "AGF® Blendy® Forest" project aimed at the conservation of forest areas crucial for the water sources used by AGF's Kanto division. The initiative focuses on maintaining the environment around the Arato River, which is part of the larger Tone River system. The forests selected for this project are characterized by their gentle terrain and abundant surface water. To ensure that the planted cedar trees thrive, the company has implemented measures to protect against wildlife such as boars and deer. This includes the installation of protective nets and regular maintenance efforts including undergrowth clearing.
In addition to forest cultivation, AGF has invited customers to engage with nature through various experiences. These activities have allowed the public to participate in forest walks and engage in events that celebrate the beauty of natural surroundings.
Commitment to Sustainable Future
Looking forward, Ajinomoto AGF aims to continue its ecological initiatives through the expansion of the "AGF® Blendy® Forest" and other water resource preservation activities. The company acknowledges its role in fostering sustainable practices within the community, reinforcing the importance of collaboration with local residents for environmental preservation.
