2025 Foxconn TLPGA Players Championship: A Celebratory Event for Women in Golf
From February 27 to March 2, the esteemed Orient Golf Country Club in Taiwan will host the 2025 Foxconn TLPGA Players Championship. This remarkable event will feature 90 talented female golfers from 11 countries, competing for an impressive total prize pool of $1.5 million.
In a notable highlight, this championship marks the comeback of two former world number ones: Jiyai Shin from South Korea and Yani Tseng from Taiwan. It will be their first time competing together in a decade, promising an electrifying atmosphere as they enter the tournament among a stellar lineup.
Among the elite competitors are recognized professional golfers hailing from various leagues, including the TLPGA, JLPGA, KLPGA, and LET. Notably, Taiwan's rising star Chia-Yen Wu, currently ranked third in Taiwan, will also be part of the home team alongside Pei-Yun Chien, who is the top-ranked Taiwanese golfer globally.
The defending champion, Haruka Kawasaki from Japan, will make her return along with 22 other stars from the JLPGA, including titleholder Shiho Kuwaki. Additional excitement will be brought by Su-Ji Kim (ranked 39) and You-Min Hwang (ranked 50) from the KLPGA, along with Chiara Tamburlini (ranked 66, No. 1 in the LET rankings) from Switzerland, and Perrine Delacour (15th in LET rankings) from France.
With participants representing diverse nations such as Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, China, India, Singapore, France, the UK, Switzerland, and Sweden, this championship has gained recognition as one of Asia's premier tournaments. Contestants are not only playing for substantial monetary awards but also for 18 ranking points toward the world championship.
The event is set to be more than just a golf tournament. Participants and spectators alike can look forward to exciting prizes, including daily raffles with items such as plane tickets, SHARP devices, Belkin accessories, an iPhone 16, and an iPad Air. Free shuttle services will be provided daily, connecting the National Taiwan Museum in Taipei to the A7 MRT station at the airport.
