Gentari and AMG Ammonia Partner for Major Green Energy Supply Project in India
Gentari and AMG Ammonia Join Forces for Green Energy Revolution
Gentari, a leading clean energy solutions provider, has embarked on an ambitious partnership with AMG Ammonia to supply renewable energy to fuel the latter's next-generation green ammonia facilities. This groundbreaking agreement signifies a pivotal step in the transition towards carbon-free energy sources in India, as Gentari commits to delivering 650 megawatts of round-the-clock (RTC) renewable energy under a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).
Project Overview
Under this agreement, Gentari will establish a substantial renewable energy capacity of approximately 2,400 MWp, primarily through solar and wind power, across various sites in India, particularly in the states of Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. In addition to this, the project will incorporate energy storage solutions capable of handling 350 MW / 2100 MWh to ensure a steady and reliable green energy supply for AMG Ammonia's facilities.
The arrangement's critical feature is its commitment to meeting green ammonia plant requirements on an hourly basis throughout the year. This consistent power supply aligns with the stringent criteria set forth by the Renewable Fuels of Non-Biological Origin (RNFBO) framework, advancing the pathway for carbon-free energy contracts. This not only enhances Gentari's capacity to deliver clean energy but also ensures AMG Ammonia can effectively serve markets worldwide, including Europe.
Industry Impact
AMG Ammonia is striving to develop one of the largest green ammonia platforms globally, with a target of achieving a production capacity of 5 million tons per year by 2030. This milestone represents a crucial contribution to the Indian government's aim to enhance green hydrogen output under the National Green Hydrogen Mission. The production will equate to approximately 1 million tons per annum (MTPA) of green hydrogen, fulfilling one-fifth of India’s green hydrogen target and 10% of Europe's green hydrogen import aspirations.
The company has already taken significant strides, recently finalizing its Investment Decision (FID) for its inaugural million-ton green ammonia project in Kakinada, further reinforcing its commitment to sustainability.
Statements from Executives
The collaboration has been met with enthusiasm among the leadership of both companies. Navjit Gill, Gentari's Country Head for India, expressed excitement about the partnership, stating, "This collaboration with AMG Ammonia has the potential to expedite the growth of renewable energy assets across India. The solar and wind energy projects will be integrated uniquely to provide persistent green energy solutions, further driving the nation's sustainable growth."
Mahesh Kolli, founder of AMG Ammonia’s partner Greenko Group, highlighted the vision surrounding this agreement, saying, "We are dedicated to positioning India as a green energy exporter with a goal of 5 MTPA green ammonia capacity by 2030. Working with Gentari, a partner that shares our values and vision, inspires confidence in achieving mutual goals."
Vision for a Sustainable Future
The partnership underscores a comprehensive strategy where Gentari aims to broaden its clean energy portfolio, driven by the emerging global demand for sustainable energy solutions. Gentari's overarching mission is to emerge as a key player in the commercial renewable energy sector, facilitating the transition towards a greener future.
As the world increasingly seeks viable alternatives to conventional energy, Gentari's alliance with AMG Ammonia stands as a promising example of how collaborative efforts can lead to substantial progress in decarbonizing industry processes and enhancing the global energy landscape. With significant developments in the renewable space projected for the upcoming years, the initiative marks a noteworthy milestone toward achieving a sustainable energy future.
