FC Osaka Launches Innovative Sustainability Initiative with Non-Diminishing Points System

FC Osaka Pioneers Non-Diminishing Points System

In a groundbreaking move, FC Osaka, operated by F.C. Osaka Co., based in Higashi-Osaka, has become the first J-League club to implement a unique non-consuming, behavior-based points system. Known as part of their sustainability project "ACT NOW," the new initiative will kick off at their home game on March 6, 2026.

This innovative points system, developed with the assistance of their top partner, UPDATER Co. in Setagaya, Tokyo, aims to visualize individual social contributions. By using the platform "I’m UPDATER," fans will earn non-diminishing "virtue" points for engaging in socially beneficial actions at the stadium, rather than for traditional consumer behavior like purchases.

A New Stadium Model

The most outstanding feature of this system is that it rewards pro-social behaviors that do not decrease over time, allowing supporters to accumulate their contributions. This shift from consumption to action expands the concept of support to incorporate social engagement, aiming to create a new stadium model that emphasizes community involvement.

Understanding "I’m UPDATER" and Its Points

I’m UPDATER is described as a lifestyle platform that documents and visualizes everyday socially responsible actions. Users can digitally record environmentally friendly activities, accumulating their participation as "virtue" points over time.

The rationale behind this system is based not on gain but on accumulating virtue. Actions such as collecting used cooking oil and participating in cleaning activities are digitally logged to build a record of contributions. These records have the potential to serve as valuable indicators of trust in various sectors, including recruitment and partnerships, and investment.

Actionable Items Starting March 6

During home games, attendees can participate in activities to earn virtue points. Some of the opportunities include the following:
  • - Collecting used cooking oil: 100 points
  • - Donating old clothes: 50 points
  • - Participating in local clean-up efforts: 50 points

Fans can register for these activities by scanning a dedicated QR code at the stadium. It is encouraged to register for "I’m UPDATER" in advance, although same-day registration will also be available.

ACT NOW Sustainability Project

The ACT NOW initiative from FC Osaka emphasizes taking action now, focusing on efforts related to the environment, community, and youth development. The implementation of the virtue points system represents a tangible action aligned with this vision, illustrating how attending games is realized through participation in meaningful activities.

Every single action, whether it be picking up litter, bringing items to donate, or joining in community services, is visualized and accumulated, contributing to the sustainable future of the region. By linking support for the team with social contribution, FC Osaka aims to foster a culture where cheering translates into meaningful impacts.

Future Developments

The opportunities for accumulating virtue points, including ongoing spots for participation, are anticipated to expand beyond the stadium to the local community. FC Osaka is determined to create a new culture where fan support leads to social contribution, maintaining its commitment to future generations. Through these efforts, FC Osaka aspires to continue being a club that the children of tomorrow can be proud of, and invites everyone to join this meaningful movement.
