Immerse Yourself in the Poetic Expressions of Modern Calligraphy

Explore a Unique Art Exhibition: 'Hear the Poetry of Calligraphy '

WATOWA GALLERY is set to host an extraordinary exhibition titled 'Hear the Poetry of Calligraphy' from September 23 to October 31, 2025. This exhibition aims to delve into the history and discourse surrounding post-war avant-garde calligraphy alongside contemporary art. It's an exciting opportunity to discover new dimensions of calligraphic expression through the lens of poetry.

The exhibition will feature a variety of artists, including Mogami Momotarou, Kakishita Kantaritsu, Yamamoto Taihiro, and many others, showcasing their innovative works and interpretations. Calligraphy has a rich history intertwined with poetry, embodying literary, political, and philosophical elements. However, modern developments in calligraphy have unintentionally sidelined the concept of poetry, leading to a complex dialogue surrounding the evolution of this art form.

The objective of this exhibition is to re-examine the narrative of post-war calligraphy and illustrate the unexplored potential within its expressive capabilities. By making poetry the focal point, the exhibition seeks to connect and explore the relationships between calligraphy and contemporary art, providing fresh perspectives that might have been overlooked in conventional discussions.
