UNITS Portable Storage Collaborates With Toys for Tots for Holiday Help

UNITS® Teams Up With Toys for Tots in Sarasota

In a commendable effort to assist the local community during the holiday season, UNITS® Moving and Portable Storage of Southwest Florida has teamed up with Toys for Tots of Sarasota. This partnership aims to address critical storage needs identified through a local news segment aired on ABC News 7, highlighting the pressing challenges faced by the organization.

The collaboration began when the UNITS Sarasota team recognized a significant need for both temporary and long-term storage solutions for Toys for Tots. The organization’s Sarasota County Director, Desiree Jennings, expressed the struggle of managing toy distributions without proper storage facilities, which are essential for sorting and organizing the thousands of toys that help spread joy to children in the area.

Zach Easton, co-owner of UNITS®, stated, "Upon meeting with Desiree, we immediately understood the urgency of the situation. Adequate storage is crucial for effectively managing the logistics involved in distributing toys during the holiday season."

Storage Solutions Provided

To support Toys for Tots, UNITS donated an impressive array of storage units strategically placed at various locations across Sarasota County to facilitate smooth operations:
  • - Seven UNITS at Eagles in Sarasota for holiday toy distribution.
  • - Two UNITS stationed at the Elks Lodge in Venice for holiday distribution.
  • - One UNIT located at American Legion in North Port for holiday distribution.
  • - Another UNIT at American Legion in North Port dedicated to year-round storage.
  • - Two UNITS at the Palmetto warehouse for year-round storage solutions.

These contributions are vital in ensuring that toys can be safely stored, organized, and distributed appropriately to families throughout Sarasota County, especially during peak demand in the holiday season.

Ongoing Challenges and Call to Action

Despite these efforts, Jennings and the team at Toys for Tots of Sarasota face ongoing obstacles. They urgently require at least 5,000 square feet of donated warehouse space to serve as a sorting and receiving facility specifically for the upcoming Toys for Tots season, which typically runs from September to December.

Easton emphasized, "Our goal in sharing this story is to inspire other businesses or property owners to recognize the need and contribute, just as we felt compelled to after seeing Desiree's story in the news. When local businesses unite, the positive impact on the community can be tremendous."
