GDX's Recognition in Cancer Prevention
The General Incorporated Association for Local Government DX Promotion (GDX) has been officially registered as a partner in the "Cancer Prevention Action" initiative, which is being promoted by Japan's Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, effective January 21, 2025. This esteemed recognition reflects GDX's commitment to enhancing digital transformation and public health within local communities.
Background of the Registration
In Japan, where the population is decreasing and aging, an essential factor for sustainable community development is the extension of individual health spans. The incidence of cancer is alarmingly high, where one in every two people is expected to develop the disease during their lifetime. Thus, early detection, treatment, and support for maintaining employment while battling cancer are societal challenges that must be addressed. GDX believes in leveraging its extensive network of local governments and corporations to promote the importance of cancer screenings and contribute to creating a workplace environment that allows everyone to work with confidence.
GDX's Action Plan as a Partner
As a partner in this initiative, GDX will embark on several significant initiatives:
Awareness and Information Sharing
GDX will disseminate information about the importance of cancer screenings and examples of innovative health management practices through its member newsletters, including the "Local Government DX Guide" and email newsletters. Seminars focused on themes such as "DX in Health and Medical Fields in Local Governments" will also be organized, creating platforms for sharing valuable information that can aid in cancer prevention efforts.
Support for Balancing Treatment and Work
GDX aims to provide digital solutions that help member local governments and businesses implement flexible working styles, such as telecommuting and flexible hour systems, facilitating the balance between treatment and work.
Internal Efforts at GDX
The organization will advocate for its staff to undergo regular health checks, promoting a 100% screening rate for cancer. Furthermore, it will focus on creating a workplace environment where employees feel secure in seeking advice and taking necessary leaves.
About the Cancer Prevention Action Initiative
This initiative, commissioned by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, aims to increase the cancer screening participation rate to over 50% through collaboration with various organizations. The ultimate goal is to build a society where individuals can continue to work with assurance even after a cancer diagnosis, fostering an environment of awareness, encouragement, and employment support related to cancer health.
