Looop Introduces Emergency Support Measures to Mitigate Rising Electricity Costs Amid Middle East Tensions

Looop's Emergency Support Measures

In light of the escalating tensions in the Middle East, particularly with Iran, Looop Inc., headquartered in Taito, Tokyo, has introduced an emergency support initiative aimed at shielding households from the rising costs of electricity. This initiative, which utilizes Looop’s advanced technology, features three automatic discount measures that will provide prompt relief to customers.

The Current Energy Landscape

As global fuel prices surge due to geopolitical strains, many consumers are understandably worried about their household expenses. Following the electricity crisis in 2022, Looop is taking proactive steps to mitigate these effects and promote a more resilient energy market. On March 13, Looop officially announced its support measures, designed with the intent of easing customer concerns and empowering everyone to make informed energy choices in uncertain times.

Historical context shows that the 2022 crisis led to the closure or suspension of many new power retailers, causing significant disruption in the energy market. As we approach the 10th anniversary of Looop Electric next month, the company has fortified its financial base and is prepared to face the ongoing volatility in energy prices. As of March 2026, predictions indicate that electricity costs may continue to rise, largely due to geopolitical factors. Looop Electric currently offers pricing plans linked to energy market prices, which are likely to fluctuate as turmoil continues in the Middle East.

Innovative Support Measures

To further support customers, Looop has launched the following three automatic discounts:

1. Continuation of the “Omakase Discount” (to be applied from March 2026)
Looop will maintain its “Omakase Discount,” which automatically applies reductions to electricity fees during peak usage times based on customer contracts.

2. Introduction of the “Emergency Support Discount” (to be applied for March 2026 usage)
As the government’s measures to stabilize electricity and gas prices remain uncertain, Looop will provide an automatic discount of up to ¥1.5 per kWh for electricity consumed in March 2026, depending on the customer’s usage history. For customers who have been contracted for over a year, the discount will vary based on average monthly usage:
- For under 200 kWh: ¥0.5 discount per kWh
- For 201 to 400 kWh: ¥1.0 discount per kWh
- For over 401 kWh: ¥1.5 discount per kWh
New customers will receive a flat discount of ¥100.

3. Distribution of 150 “Omamori Ticket Additional Edition” coupons (effective immediately)
These coupons will automatically reduce the unit price of electricity when prices exceed a certain threshold during peak hours, providing additional savings over the next year.
- If the unit price exceeds ¥60 but is below ¥80, it will be reduced to ¥40.
- If the unit price exceeds ¥81, it will be reduced by ¥40 from the baseline price.

By combining these measures, families, such as a standard four-person household in an apartment, can expect total savings of around ¥2,000. This includes approximately ¥1,100 from the
