Haruka Kawakami Shines in National Role-Playing Contest
On February 25, 2026, Mitsubishi Estate Simon, based in Chiyoda, Tokyo, hosted the 14th Premium Outlets Customer Service Role-Playing Contest national finals. This annual event, which first began in 2011, has seen significant participation over the years, and this time 168 contestants entered through preliminary rounds held at ten locations across Japan. From them, 20 finalists emerged to compete, each presenting their unique customer service styles in engaging role-playing scenarios.
In a thrilling competition marked by the high skills of the participants, Haruka Kawakami from ANTEPRIMA, stationed at Kobe Sanda Premium Outlets, secured the coveted Grand Prize. Out of the competitive finalists, four other participants tied for the runner-up positions, leading to the unusual awarding of multiple second prizes, while no one placed third or lower this year. All prize winners received cash awards and opportunities for overseas training trips, further incentivizing excellence in customer service.
The Premium Outlets initiative emphasizes the importance of customer interaction, operating under the slogan, "Serving smiles to every customer—friendly and respectfully." Throughout the year, various service training programs and role-playing exercises are implemented, not only aiming to enhance individual skills but also enriching the shopping experience through a diverse range of products and services. The goal is to continuously create valuable encounters and connections at its premium shopping venues.
