In a heartwarming initiative aimed at supporting children's futures, renowned pop artist Romero Britto will participate in the "BRITTO Future Support Project" scheduled for July 22, 2026. The event will take place at Yoyogi Junior High School in Shibuya, Tokyo, a venue marked for reconstruction due to aging facilities. Organized by the NPO Peer Support Network Shibuya, Hope Bear Co., Ltd., and Elemax Co., Ltd., the event promises a day filled with creativity and community engagement.
Starting at 11 AM, children will don bright yellow glasses and white coats, emulating Britto’s spirited persona. They will have the opportunity to express their creativity by painting their own garments as well as the classroom walls, desks, and chairs using vibrant spray paints. This immersive experience allows them to see art not just as something to admire but as a medium through which they can also express themselves.
At 2 PM, Britto himself is scheduled to appear, joining the children for collaborative artwork and personalized shoe painting—about 50 pairs of shoes provided by SKECHERS will be transformed by the children into unique art pieces. The finished shoes will be gifted to the participants, making each one a special memory of the day.
In addition to hands-on artistic activities, the event will feature a charity auction for Britto’s art and merchandise, along with the sale of exclusive collaboration T-shirts. Proceeds from the event will contribute to creating safe spaces for youth both in and out of school.
The underlying mission of this event is to foster creativity and expression among children. Not always can the potential of children be observed in tangible forms; hence, providing an opportunity for creative expression within familiar school settings is crucial. This experience intends to ignite a positive outlook on the future, encouraging the children to explore their artistic sides and build confidence.
Romero Britto is not only known for his vibrant artworks, characterized by bold colors and lively themes, but he is also a dedicated philanthropist. His outlook as an artist revolves around generating positive change, a principle he embodies through his participation in over 250 charity projects globally. This commitment aligns beautifully with the vision of the event organizers and the understanding of Koizumi Shoko, the principal of Yoyogi Junior High School, leading to this collaborative effort.
Three Main Art Experiences on Event Day
The children will interact with Britto's artistic world in three core activities:
1.
Yellow Glasses & White Coat Art (Main Activity)
Children will wear yellow glasses and white coats, just like Britto, and will paint on their clothing. This transforms them from mere spectators to active participants in the art-making process.
2.
SKECHERS Shoe Painting
Children will collaboratively paint on pairs of SKECHERS shoes, creating personalized wearable art pieces that showcase their unique styles. The completed shoes will serve as memorable keepsakes for the young artists.
3.
Classroom Wall Painting
Together with Britto, students will turn the walls of their school into a canvas, leaving a legacy of their creativity as the school prepares for its upcoming renovation. This act of creation will symbolize the children's connection to a place that has nurtured them.
Additional Charity Initiatives
- - Charity Auction: Available artworks and merchandise from Britto will be auctioned to benefit the project.
- - Limited Edition T-Shirts: The charity T-shirts featuring Britto's artistry will be available for purchase.
This remarkable event reflects the commitment to nurturing the potential of youth through art and community support. By participating, attendees will not only engage in creative expression but also contribute to important causes that foster growth and opportunity for children in their educational journeys.
