Okayama University's International Symposium on Advanced Polymers and Functional Materials
On July 11 and 12, 2025, Okayama University will host the
International Symposium on Advanced Polymers and Functional Materials at its Tsushima Campus, specifically in the KIBINOVE co-creation innovation lab. This significant event will gather approximately 70 researchers, students, and industry stakeholders from both domestic and international backgrounds, creating a platform to share cutting-edge research, foster international research collaboration, and spark interdisciplinary brainstorming.
Vision for Future Research
The inauguration of the symposium will feature a keynote address from Okayama University's President,
Yasuyuki Nasu, who will emphasize the university's commitment to innovative material development as a core research area under the
J-PEAKS initiative (Japan's Program for Enhancing and Accelerating Key Research Universities). He will highlight how this symposium embodies the university's vision looking ahead to 2050, affirming its role as a leading research institution.
Featuring Renowned Speakers
The first day will showcase presentations from prominent researchers, including:
- - Prof. Allan Guymon from Brigham Young University, USA
- - Assoc. Prof. Boosayarat Tomapatanaget from Chulalongkorn University, Thailand
- - Prof. Yoshinori Takashima from Osaka University, Japan
- - Prof. Nobuyuki Zettsu from Shinshu University, Japan
- - Alongside several experts from Okayama University including Prof. Yuta Nishina, Prof. Masayoshi Tonouchi, and Prof. Tadashi Ema.
These sessions will provide a platform for exchanging insights on the latest research findings and technological trends in polymer chemistry and functional materials.
Encouraging Young Researchers
The second day will focus on themes like materials, light, plants, and energy, featuring presentations from young researchers and graduate students through oral presentations and poster sessions. This interactive setup will allow attendees to engage in vigorous discussions, contribute questions, and share ideas, facilitating the development of an international research network.
Strengthening Research Foundations
