Suffolk Partners with Arrowsight to Enhance Construction Safety Through Intelligent Video Coaching
Suffolk Partners with Arrowsight to Enhance Jobsite Safety
In a groundbreaking move set to transform jobsite safety standards in the construction industry, Suffolk, a leading builder in the United States, has announced a strategic partnership with Arrowsight. This collaboration aims to leverage Arrowsight's innovative video coaching technology to enhance worker safety and drastically reduce insurance claims across all of Suffolk's construction projects.
The Arrowsight system utilizes a network of fixed-point cameras combined with human-led video analysis to identify both unsafe practices as well as commendable safety behaviors on job sites. This real-time monitoring allows for immediate coaching interventions, enabling Suffolk's safety teams to make timely adjustments for improved safety compliance. Notably, this technology is designed to be portable and can function without electricity or internet access, making it particularly advantageous for the often rugged and complex environments typical of construction sites.
With this partnership, Suffolk becomes the first major construction company in the United States to deploy this advanced safety system across all contractor-controlled insurance projects. The decision follows a successful pilot program conducted in collaboration with Zurich North America. During this trial phase, sites that implemented the cameras alongside coaching reported a remarkable decrease of over 50% in the frequency of workers' compensation claims, indicating a significant boost in worker safety.
Doug Ware, Senior Vice President of Risk Management at Suffolk, highlighted the impressive results observed during the pilot program, noting that claims dropped drastically and incurred losses were ten times lower in areas utilizing the Arrowsight system. He stated, "Arrowsight's daily coaching reports and flagging of unsafe practices had an enormous impact on jobsite safety, justifying our decision to expand this technology across our operations."
Arrowsight's Founder and CEO, Adam Aronson, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, emphasizing Suffolk's role in the pilot project. He stated, "We are thrilled to collaborate with Suffolk as they become the first large construction manager in the U.S. to roll out our Intelligent Video Coaching services to all their contractor-controlled insurance program projects, ultimately enhancing worker safety nationwide."
Alec Verdone, Site Safety Manager at Suffolk, noted the effectiveness of the video coaching services, particularly their positive reception among subcontractors, which contributed to a culture of safety and learning on site. The partnership is expected to bring about a noticeable shift in the industry's approach to safety, with tighter adherence to safety protocols and better-trained workers.
Joe Riela, the Head of Construction Casualty for Zurich North America, looks forward to the broader implications of this partnership. He stated, "Suffolk’s commitment to this new technology signifies hope for the industry as we strive to return every worker home safely each day and elevate overall safety standards."
Suffolk is not only a pioneer in construction innovation but also plays a crucial role in various sectors. The company, which boasts more than $10 billion in annual revenue and employs around 3,500 people across multiple offices, has a vast portfolio encompassing healthcare, education, government projects, and more.
With the introduction of Arrowsight's video coaching, Suffolk aims to not just reduce claims but also foster a culture of safety that prioritizes the well-being of all employees involved in the construction process. Employees, clients, and subcontractors alike are expected to benefit from this cutting-edge safety initiative, which may very well set a new industry standard for jobsite safety practices.
