In honor of G's 10th anniversary, we are excited to announce the symposium titled "Bring Back the Garage," which will be held on June 27, 2025, from 17:00 to 18:30 JST at G's Tokyo campus. This free event, which requires prior registration, aims to revisit the foundational aspects of startups over the past decade.

The symposium is recognized as an official side event of the IVS2025 KYOTO conference, one of Japan's largest startup gatherings scheduled for July 2025. This partnership aligns with our commitment to advancing discussions about the future of startups and technology. The event will be live-streamed on YouTube, ensuring wider accessibility for those unable to attend in person.

The discussions will be segmented into two main panels:

Panel Discussion 1: Reflecting on the Past Decade of Startups


The first session will feature notable journalists who have closely observed the Japanese startup scene over the past ten years. They will provide insights on how the ecosystem has transformed and discuss the pivotal moments that have shaped the current landscape.

Ueda has extensive experience covering startups, innovation, and new business ventures. He has participated as a judge in various pitch contests and is well-versed in social innovation.

  • - Speaker: Ryo Suzuki, Deputy Editor at ASCII Startup.
Suzuki leads the startup section in Weekly ASCII, focusing on emerging technologies and trends in the startup world, and also manages open innovation programs between large corporations and startups.

Panel Discussion 2: Looking Ahead to the Next Decade of Startups


The second discussion will analyze the changing landscape for startups, including the rise of generative AI and evolving funding opportunities. Led by Yoshihiko Takubo, Vice President of Globis Graduate School of Management, alongside G's founder Hiroyasu Kodama, the panel aims to redefine the 'Garage' spirit essential for fostering innovation and entrepreneurship in the coming years.
