Celebrate Hina Matsuri at Tamagawa Takashimaya S.C.

Every year, the Tamagawa Takashimaya Shopping Center pays homage to the traditional Hina Matsuri, also known as Doll Festival, with a captivating showcase originating from Inatori, Higashi-Izu Town, Shizuoka Prefecture. This year, the event runs until March 3rd, featuring stunning "Hina no Tsurushi Kazari" decorations in the main building's GRAND PATIO Library & Art and the South Building's 6th Floor White Mall.

The Tradition of Hina Matsuri

The Hina Matsuri tradition in Japan dates back to the Edo period, where intricately designed dolls are displayed on a red-covered platform, symbolizing the hopeful wishes for the health and happiness of girls. Each decoration embodies a gentle heart, passed down from mothers to daughters and now to grandchildren. Families are invited to capture this beautiful tradition with photography, celebrating the wholesome growth of their children.

Special Events and Giveaways

Throughout select weekends during the festival, visitors can enjoy exciting giveaways of locally sourced carnations and the renowned "Izuno Haru" strawberries from Higashi-Izu Town. These delightful gifts are available on a first-come, first-served basis, with limited quantities distributed daily from 10:00 AM until supplies last.

In addition, numerous workshops conducted by students from Showa Women's University will highlight not only the beauty of Higashi-Izu Town but also initiatives related to sustainable development goals (SDGs). Participants, including children aged three and older, will have the chance to create their traditional Hina decorations using paints and laminated sheets while learning about Japanese culture and craftsmanship.

Special Menu Fair – "Izuno Haru & Beni Hōbbe"

From February 14th to March 3rd, guests can relish the limited edition menu fair featuring dishes made with the renowned "Izuno Haru" and "Beni Hōbbe" strawberries from Higashi-Izu. The culinary delight includes unique items available at 15 different food outlets in the shopping center:
  • - At Mini Massif, guests can savor "Izuno Haru with Burrata Cheese" and a refreshing “Haruhi” shrub.
  • - The offerings extend to delectable desserts such as the “Beni Hōbbe parfait” and an exclusive pizza topped with both strawberry varieties at the Wall of Holes restaurant.

Special Offers and New Openings

The event coincides with a series of exciting store openings. The popular jewelry brand Star Jewelry has recently undergone a renovation and celebrates its 80th anniversary with a fresh new look and a stunning spring collection.

Moreover, the grand opening of Banana Republic on February 19th and Etrire on March 4th at the main Takashimaya store promises to enrich the shopping experience, offering unique and stylish clothing for modern women.
