Experience Exquisite Outdoor Sauna and River Bathing in Okutama

Discover the Ultimate Outdoor Relaxation at PLUS ALPHA SAUNA

Nestled in the breathtaking landscape of Okutama, Tokyo, PLUS ALPHA SAUNA offers a unique blend of a tent sauna experience paired with the soothing embrace of a natural river bath. This newly established facility at the Okuchaya campsite champions the philosophy of merging urban life relaxation techniques with the invigorating powers of nature.

About PLUS ALPHA SAUNA

Founded by Tatsuya Mizutani in December 2020, PLUS ALPHA SAUNA is designed to help city dwellers escape the hustle and bustle of urban life. With its location just over an hour from central Tokyo, this outdoor sauna experience allows visitors to reconnect with nature while enjoying some much-needed personal time to unwind and rejuvenate.

The Concept

As the sauna trend continues to rise, many experiences in urban areas have become monotonous. Guests are increasingly seeking unique environments that foster a deep sense of connection with nature. This is precisely what PLUS ALPHA SAUNA aims to provide with its outdoor setting, representing a new wave in sauna experiences.

The campsite itself is surrounded by crystal-clear streams and lush forests, encapsulating a space designed for body and mind relaxation—what we call 'totonoi.' The integration of a high-quality tent sauna with natural hot and cold water enhancements makes it a standout destination.

What to Expect

  • - Tent Sauna and BBQ: Enjoy the fresh wilderness while grilling in a comfortable outdoor barbecue setup next to your sauna. The facility runs from 10 AM to 5 PM, offering a package for only 25,000 yen for seven hours of use, including both barbecue and sauna functions. For visits from October to February, a five-hour package is available at 20,000 yen.

  • - Natural River Bath: Just steps away from the tent sauna, guests can readily plunge into a refreshing natural river that changes temperature through the seasons. Experience cooling waters that range from a brisk 3°C in winter to a pleasant 15°C in summer.

  • - Private Reservations: The facility operates on a fully reserved basis for only four groups each day, allowing visitors to relish their time without interruption. This perfect setup for family and friends makes the sauna experience deeply personal and customizable: play your favorite music or simply enjoy the serene silence.

  • - Full Rental Services: Forget about bringing your own equipment; PLUS ALPHA SAUNA provides everything from sauna hats and ponchos to infinity chairs to enhance your outdoor experience. Barbecue equipment is also available for those looking to extend their enjoyment after the sauna session, all without any hassle of setup or clean-up.
