Techtronic Industries Joins the UN Global Compact

Techtronic Industries Co. Ltd. (commonly known as TTI), a prominent player in the cordless power tools and outdoor equipment sector, has taken a significant step in its sustainability journey by joining the UN Global Compact. This decision reflects TTI's commitment to both environmental and social responsibility, aligning with a global initiative that encompasses over 25,000 organizations across more than 160 countries.

The UN Global Compact serves as the world's largest voluntary corporate sustainability initiative, which encourages companies to adopt sustainable and socially responsible policies. By becoming a part of this initiative, TTI is pledging to report its progress in sustainability and governance to its stakeholders annually through its Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) report.

CEO Steve Richman expressed, "As a pioneer in lithium-ion battery-powered tools and outdoor equipment, our commitment to sustainability has been integral to our business model. We initiated our ESG reporting in 2015, and in 2018, we aligned our objectives with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This commitment to continual improvement covers various facets, including safety solutions, noise reduction, supply chain transparency, and governance improvement. Joining the UN Global Compact formalizes our alignment with its Ten Principles regarding human rights, labor, environmental sustainability, and anti-corruption."

TTI's ambition to enhance its sustainability programs includes broad initiatives designed to support the UN's SDGs while fostering a fair and inclusive workplace culture. The company is focused on setting quantifiable goals and monitoring its progress to build upon its extensive sustainability practices.

Techtronic Industries, founded in 1985 by German entrepreneur Horst Julius Pudwill, has risen to the forefront of cordless technology and innovation. The company’s diverse product portfolio includes leading brands such as MILWAUKEE, well-known for its professional-grade tools, and RYOBI, favored among DIY enthusiasts. TTI's commitment to innovation and strategic growth has solidified its standing in the markets it serves, employing over 50,000 people globally.

With its research and development center located in Brookfield, Wisconsin, TTI continues to push the envelope in terms of product advancement and job site productivity from the MILWAUKEE brand. Meanwhile, in Greenville, South Carolina, RYOBI remains an industry leader in DIY power tools.

TTI's standing is not just due to its product offerings but also its strong ownership structure, primarily held by the Pudwill family and various institutional investors. This robust foundation helps maintain TTI's global reach and operational stability.

As part of its commitment to transparency and accountability, TTI is set to release its 2024 ESG report in March 2025, providing an overview of its progress and plans within the realms of sustainability and corporate responsibility. The company encourages stakeholders and the public to keep informed on its sustainability efforts through its publications available on their official website.

By joining the UN Global Compact, Techtronic Industries Co. Ltd. is reinforcing its dedication to making strides in the realms of sustainability and social responsibility, ensuring that as they innovate, they also contribute to a better future for all.
