Envision Energy and Kallista Energy Join Forces for Battery Storage Project in France

In a strategic partnership aimed at advancing the energy landscape in Europe, Envision Energy, a renowned leader in green technologies, has intensified its collaboration with Kallista Energy to establish a substantial battery energy storage system (BESS) in France. This ambitious project, located in Neuilly-en-Thelle, Hauts-de-France, involves a 193 MW capacity with a total energy storage of 386 MWh. Construction is already underway as of early July 2026, with the system anticipated to begin commercial operations by spring 2028.

This initiative builds upon the foundation laid by the Saleux project, Envision’s inaugural BESS venture in France initiated in 2025. The Neuilly-en-Thelle project signifies yet another progressive step in the expansive partnership between Envision Energy and Kallista. It also serves as a scalable model for energy storage solutions throughout Europe, ultimately contributing to the Future Energy System aimed at a sustainable, electrified energy landscape.

Envision Energy will provide its cutting-edge BESS technology and manage the project through its entire lifecycle, which includes site maintenance and eventual battery recycling after 25 years of operation. Integral to this project are the lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cells produced by Envision AESC in its gigafactory located in Hauts-de-France, which has been operational since June 2025. This localized battery manufacturing paired with system integration aims to boost regional industrial capabilities while fortifying energy infrastructure reliability.

Once fully operational, the energy storage system will offer critically needed flexibility services to the French electricity grid, including frequency regulation through RTE's reserve markets, which is vital for balancing electricity supply and demand. Notably, this storage capacity is equivalent to the daily energy needs of approximately 30,000 households, thereby promoting grid stability and facilitating a greater incorporation of renewable energy sources. The project aligns with France's ongoing electrification efforts, supporting its transition to a low-carbon economy.
