Gabe Kopley Returns to Binti as CTO
In a noteworthy move, Binti, a startup dedicated to developing software that supports social workers and enhances outcomes within the child welfare system, has announced the return of co-founder Gabe Kopley as its Chief Technology Officer (CTO). This decision comes as Binti embarks on a significant growth phase, aiming to expand its engineering capabilities amidst rising customer demand.
Founded on the mission to improve child welfare, Binti has significantly broadened its product lines throughout 2025, working closely with over 550 agencies across 13 states, effectively serving approximately 47% of the U.S. child welfare system. To sustain this momentum, the company is set to ramp up the engineering team, particularly at its headquarters in San Francisco.
The context in which Binti operates is pressing; social workers across the United States are facing overwhelming workloads, where a chronic shortage of foster families and a shrinking workforce compound the challenges. Many social workers find that a considerable portion of their time is consumed by administrative duties, detracting from their primary responsibility of assisting families. Binti's innovative approach seeks to address these gaps. By leveraging modern Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions integrated with responsible AI, Binti offers tailored support that directly alleviates administrative burdens, facilitates better child welfare outcomes, and helps to restore trust in critical systems.
Felicia Curcuru, CEO, and Co-Founder of Binti expressed her belief in the momentous nature of this transition. She stated, “Binti is at an inflection point. We’ve demonstrated that government software can be rapid, efficient, and focused on human needs. Gabe's return signifies our commitment to magnifying our impact, especially as we broaden into new sectors within social services and deepen our AI investments.” Curcuru emphasized Kopley’s expertise in fast-paced product development as pivotal to addressing customer needs and broadening product offerings.
Kopley’s background is a blend of technical proficiency and advocacy. He co-founded Binti with Curcuru in 2016, building on his involvement since 2015. After a valuable stint at Mulesoft and Salesforce where he honed standards for software reliability and security, Kopley returns to Binti with vigor. His focus will hone in on constructing a top-tier engineering team, bolstering Binti's technical framework, and utilizing AI to not only accelerate product innovation but also enhance internal productivity. Furthermore, his commitment to social justice is reflected in his work as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA), mentoring children in foster care and working alongside child protective services and juvenile justice systems.
In his own words, Kopley articulated the growing need for more intuitive and efficient government software, saying, “The demand for better, more user-friendly government software is immense, and our platform is uniquely positioned to deliver it. It’s evident how significantly our product has improved the lives of social workers and the families they serve. I am thrilled to expand the team and push the boundaries of what's achievable with AI, all while empowering social workers to prioritize what truly matters: assisting children and families.”
This strategic announcement also follows Binti’s recent collaboration with Anthropic, unveiled in August 2025. This pioneering initiative falls under the umbrella of Anthropic's 'AI for Good' mission. By implementing Claude, Binti is enabling social workers to reclaim hours spent on administrative tasks each week through its intelligent AI solutions.
Binti stands as a mission-driven tech firm, committed to reforming the child welfare system within the United States. The company, operational since 2017, has successfully launched numerous products across more than 550 child welfare agencies spanning 36 states, making an impact on nearly half of the country’s child welfare framework. Additionally, Binti's efforts have extended to improving the lives of over 100,000 families and assisting more than 12,000 social workers, all while securing over $60 million in funding from high-profile investors such as Founders Fund and First Round Capital.
