Join the 65th Fujifilm Photo Contest: Capturing Moments with Creativity
Fujifilm Corporation, headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo, led by CEO Jiro Goto, has announced the commencement of the 65th Fujifilm Photo Contest. Since its inception in 1950, the contest has aimed to communicate the value and power of photography, fostering the continuation and development of photography culture for over half a century. It has become one of Japan’s premier photo contests, attracting submissions from numerous individuals.
This year, the contest features five categories:
1.
Open Category: Submissions in this category can include any theme, inviting works that capture moments in portraits, snaps, sports, family life, and traditional cultural arts.
2.
Nature Photography Category: This segment invites works where nature takes center stage, including landscape and wildlife photographs as well as underwater images.
3.
Series Photography Category: Comprising a collection of four images, submissions can express any theme, encouraging participants to create stories through a cohesive series of photographs.
4.
Under-39 Category: Aimed at photographers aged 39 and younger, this open-themed category welcomes fresh and innovative perspectives from younger artists.
5.
Student Category: This category encourages participation from all students enrolled by October 2026, including elementary through university students across various specialized institutions.
One highlight to note is the prestigious
Fujikon Award, awarded to one exceptional entry from any of the five categories, which comes with a prize of 1,000,000 yen. Judging will be overseen by esteemed professionals, ensuring that each submission receives careful consideration. The judges are:
- - Etsuko Enami for the Open Category
- - Tatsuwo Hata for the Nature Photography Category
- - Taichi Ozawa for the Series Photography Category
- - Miho Komuro for the Under-39 Category
- - Mayuko Ukawa for the Student Category
Winning entries will be displayed in high-quality silver prints across four Fujifilm Photo Salons nationwide and will also be included in a published collection. Details about further exhibitions will be updated on the official Fujifilm Photo Contest website.
Moreover, this year’s contest will also enhance support for works that do not win awards. Each non-winning entry will receive a sticker indicating its evaluation stage, and participants may opt to receive “one-point advice” from a Fujifilm photo advisor for a fee, underlining the company’s commitment to supporting photographers at every skill level.
Fujifilm Group aims to “increase the number of smiles on earth.” Through various projects, including this photo contest, the company continues to contribute to the growth of photography culture and to connect with people’s smiles since its founding.
