New Cafe 'Shiru Cafe Chuo University' to Foster Student and Professional Connections
Chuo University, located in Hachioji City, Tokyo, has partnered with Enrission, a company based in Kyoto, to launch the new "Shiru Cafe Chuo University" on September 25, 2026. This exciting initiative aims to create a vibrant space for students and working professionals to interact and exchange ideas, enhancing career opportunities for students.
The opening ceremony for the cafe will take place at the first floor of the 2nd building on the Korakuen campus. This will mark the first establishment of the Shiru Cafe chain within the MARCH group of universities, which includes prestigious institutions like Meiji University and Aoyama Gakuin University.
During the opening ceremony, various stakeholders including university representatives, participating companies, and student staff will be present. Following the ceremony, a networking session and special discussion are scheduled, providing opportunities for press representatives to engage in interviews and observe the event.
Background of the Initiative and Collaboration with Chuo University
Shiru Cafe serves as a career support platform, offering registered students complimentary drinks while fostering casual interactions with company professionals and recruiters. Approximately 60% of the users are first and second-year students, emphasizing early career development. Chuo University's educational philosophy encourages students to engage proactively with society while envisioning independent career paths that leverage their expertise.
The collaboration with Enrission aligns with Chuo University’s goal of providing early exposure to diverse industries, transcending traditional job-hunting frameworks. This synergy aims to result in a more flexible and high-quality operational platform.
Location at Korakuen Campus's 2nd Building
The cafe will be situated on the first floor of the 2nd building of the Korakuen campus, which hosts classrooms from the Faculty of Science and Engineering and the Faculty of Social and Environmental Studies—making it a bustling hub for students. The building's striking red vertical louvres will provide a distinctive backdrop to the cafe's seating arrangements along the main corridor, creating a lively atmosphere that encourages casual drop-ins by students.
Future Vision
Chuo University intends to position this cafe as a new career infrastructure on campus, facilitating an environment where students can naturally broaden their horizons and make informed career choices. Enrission will collaborate closely with the university to support student engagement, organizing a variety of Meetup events—small-scale gatherings for students and companies to discuss various topics. This outreach not only benefitted Chuo University students but also extends opportunities to nearby campuses, such as Myogadani and Ichigaya Tamachi, fostering interdisciplinary interactions.
