Matanuska Telecom Association Welcomes New CEO Demian Voiles to Lead Future Growth

Matanuska Telecom Association Appoints New CEO

In a significant leadership change within Alaska's telecommunications landscape, Matanuska Telecom Association, Inc. (MTA) has appointed Demian Voiles as its new Chief Executive Officer. This decision comes after an extensive nationwide search, executed in collaboration with CarterBaldwin Executive Search, to ensure the right fit for this pivotal role. Voiles will officially take the helm on September 29, 2025, succeeding Michael C. Burke, who is set to retire after years of dedicated service.

A Wealth of Experience

Demian Voiles is no stranger to the telecommunications industry, bringing nearly three decades of experience to MTA. His career has been marked by impressive roles at prominent Fortune 50 companies, where he has demonstrated exceptional capabilities in operational management, sales, and engineering. Voiles is widely recognized for his operational excellence and his ability to cultivate growth, establish efficient teams, and enhance network infrastructure significantly.

Ken Kincaid, the Chief Governance Officer of the MTA Board, expressed confidence in Voiles' ability to lead the organization. “Demian brings a unique combination of entrepreneurial vision and large-scale operational expertise,” Kincaid stated. His past achievements in expanding markets and delivering transformative growth for leading telecom companies make him well-suited for guiding MTA during this critical period of expansion.

Honoring a Legacy

Voiles' predecessor, Michael Burke, is being celebrated for his remarkable leadership and the significant impact he has left on MTA over the years. Under his guidance, the association has not only grown but has expanded its influence and established a firm foundation for future success. Kincaid noted, “Michael leaves behind a legacy of integrity, innovation, and unwavering commitment to the communities we serve.

A Vision for the Future

Before joining MTA, Demian Voiles served as the Regional Vice President of Construction and Engineering for Comcast, overseeing a substantial capital budget. His previous roles have positioned him well for this leadership opportunity at MTA, particularly his capacity to generate substantial revenue and cultivate customer loyalty. Notably, he was instrumental in achieving $2 billion in annual revenue as the RVP of Sales and Marketing in Texas, alongside consistently high customer satisfaction ratings.

His journey in telecommunications began at GCI Liberty and Verizon, where he not only launched but also led Verizon Alaska. Voiles’ journey in transformational leadership within the industry reflects his dedication to accelerating growth and technological advancement.

“I am honored to return to Alaska and lead MTA into its next chapter,” Voiles stated during the announcement. His commitment to advancing MTA’s mission underscores a focus on investing in personnel, expanding essential networks, and remaining a critical partner within both the local communities and the state at large.
